I will only ever run GY Eagle F1 Asymmetric. (not DS3Gs as some ppl have mistakenly gone for in the past).

I did 12 laps of the Ring last year on a new set and they performed great, they are a lot better than the A1s, with the added rim protection, however im sure they make slightly more road noise. Not sure if its due to the coilovers that are fitted creating more resonance.

@ Sonny, are they these exact tyres you recommend?
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 255/35 R19 96Y XL with rim protection (MFS)
do you have them in that size?

i have these exact tyres and can recommend them, replaced all 4 and wasn't sure I had made the right choice for the 1st few hundred miles but after that they really came into their own, especially in the wet I found. Evo magazine also rated these their tyre of the year for 2013. i paid £178 per corner at Micheldever tyres inc fitting. :)

They might be my next choice for our lovely wet roads if I can find someone selling them at a reasonable price!

Mini group buy :)

Wise choice, good rim protection too, and a nice looking tyre

Something's not right with your car.

I had 255/35x19 PS2s when we were in France a few years back, and my Avant was fully (yes really, fully) laden with as much wine as I could cram in the back and still have room for 2 suitcases - no rubbing...

Never had any problem with 275/30x19 F1s either.

Currently got 255/35x19 PSSs, and not getting any rubbing with them, even when carrying 4 people plus loads of Xmas presents around.

Bit late but I run the Michelin pilot super sports too, great tyre and do wear very well in my experience, even with spirited driving they don't scrub too much.

From all the posts it would seem that if anyone chooses either the Michelin Pilot sports (any flavour) or the Goodyear f1's you can't go wrong ... That's all the sticky needs to say, I've just wasted hours looking for tyres for my company car and will probably just put pilot sports on there as you know they will perform.

As a side note, looking at the tyres for my Merc it would appear that if you chose the XL rated tyres the stopping distance in the wet increases (same tyre) go figure, would have thought the stronger side walls would have kept a better form, or maybe that's the issue?

Hmm it's a weird one alright,

When I bought the car in 2007 ( demo model) it was with OEM 18' alloy equipped with Pirelli - no rubbing problem then
I changed for contisport - no issue
My third set were Bridgestone R050, still with the 18' alloys - it rubbed!

Didn't mind so much as I had decided to purchase a set of 19' from Audi so I got them earlier than planned and fitted them straight with contis - no issue
Next set were contis again, this time with 10mm and 8mm spacers, still fine

My last set were the current PS2, and they rubbed even after taking the spacers off...

Audi had a very good look and tried the car on the last 2 services, test drove etc... They cannot find anything - I though it was my shocks that were perhaps tired, but I think we can trust Audi who would have recommended a change if they'd shown any sign of weakness,
The problem is that the roads around where my Audi dealer is based are smooth and the roads where the rubbing takes place are extremely bumpy

So my next tyres will be Eagle F1, and I'll keep my fingers crossed...

So your RS4 was one of the tiny minority sold in the UK with 18" wheels and you've fitted 19" wheels - maybe that sheds some light on your problems.

Are you 100% sure that you have the correct offset 19" wheels for the RS4? Yes, I know you bought them from an Audi dealer - but it's a well documented fact that the product knowledge of most Audi dealers is truly abysmal.

Never thought of that..

Rooted for my invoice and this is what it says: (I scanned it but I don't think I can post an image from my computer here?)

Part #: 8E0601025AG 1H7 ALLOY WHEEL (€1,680.83 for the privilege.. better be the right one!)
This was in March 2009, and I remember there was a wait of about three weeks for them to come from Germany (?)
I also purchased a new set of TPMS for these as I didn't want to take the one from the 18' which I kept for winter tyres - at least that was the idea, but the Bridgestone R050 are still on them :)

does that part number mean anything?

Goodyear Assy 2 for me .had them on my last audi and when i got the RS4 it had Conti sport 3's on and they were <beep> in the wet and cold couldnt wait to wear them down which took a couple of years as I run winter wheels/tyres from Nov to March ,although i have had to put on the summers again temporarily as i had a smashed wheel due to a rock getting kicked out of the verge by a van , which i then failed to avoid :-(
