erm no, the b7 is hard to beat, ok it doesn't have all the fancy gadgets that some of the New ones have, but look at it it's just sexy, something that a Beemer is not.

Had a E92 335d M Sport and it was pants really, 35 mpg from a tractor with the most awful ride quality out of the 6 BMW's I've had. It was marginally improved upon when the run flats were ditched for PS2's but it still was dire and uninspiring.

The system/UI thingy is dated. And the one I sat in (XF) the display looked old school like the graphics on a 90s nintendo

I'm in a 63 plate Freelander at the mo with what I assume has the same ICE as the XFR-S and its actually very good.

The ergonomics of it is not as good as Audi MMI at the monent granted, but pure functionality it's superb and does everything you need and would expect

When Audi are still rolling out a RNSe from 1973 in their £120k R8 V10 plus, the Jag is light years ahead.

B7 rs4 in isolation still looks fresh, powerful and prestigious. Still beautiful feeling to sit in buckets and hold the thick rimmed wheel. But when parked to newer stuff, even an E92 M3, unfortunately it sometimes looks dated. The cars I fancy will hopefully be affordable when I'm ready for a change in a yr or two and be around 30-35k and I want a 2 door coupe.
I seem to have always loved Porsches and thus fancy a 997.1 turbo WITH aerokit. But it might look outdated come buying time as did the 996 turbo ( and I ended up settling for rs4 4 yrs ago). The only downside to porsche might be the sound. There was a gorgeous black 997.1 turbo with aerokit and unique interior for sale at CCG Harrogate recently for £42k exactly how I like. Was tempted. Luckily it sold b4 I sold my kids to finance it.
An r8 v8 is a possibility ( but very unpractical) and no significant performance gain but surprisingly feels faster than b7rs4.
Very sexy gorgeous head turning shape vs porsche, but don't love it like a porsche, so I might stil hanker after a porsche.
A gtr will also be within range in a yr but need to do more research on it plus won't give prestige image. Reckon ride is well uncomfortable, steering wheel feel not as nice cos bigger and thinner maybe. Sound? Surely litchfields can look after them cost effectively.
An rs5 wil be a contender but that shape has been around a while now. Do fancy the convertible more. Do fancy the s tronic. Wish performance was better. Wish it wasn't so bulky n heavy looking. I think I'm forcing myself to fancy them.
I might even hang on for a few yrs for a M4 or c class amg if they make a 4 wheel drive version.
I have even contemplated a AM V8 vantage. But it would need to be the 4.7lt, and that costs a lot more vs the slow 4.3lt, and even then it's stil slow ish. But gorgeous car to look at and clean.
My kids are grown up and all will have their own cars soon so I can getaway with porsche and r8. But would stil hav a focus/golf diesel runaround.
I swear thinking about my next car consumes a lot of my brain power n time. It's ridiculous and too early for me to look at autotrader daily at Porsches and r8s etc. The joys of being a petrol head.
Wish I could just settle for a fast diesel. But no I have to have something special. A 3.0 tdi Quattro A5 s line in white with anthracite wheels would be an ideal all rounder but it just ain't a special performance car to feel proud of.

I've been in a quandry for months now whether to sell mine (After 4-years of ownership) or keep it as a second car.

I ordered an AMG A45 back in June, having to wait until Feb to get the bloody thing though. My last 4-cars have been V8's, so a 4-pot 2 litre is a come down, but apart from that, the AMG is a similar concept to RS in that it's a great compromise between pace, practicality and presitge (Ok, it's no beauty either!)

I have had second cars before when i've owned TVR's, but i don't think the RS is second car material as it wouldn't get used enough, but i don't want to lose her either :(

You'll see less gtr's on the road than you will r8's and 911's, well that's certainly true where I live. Gtr will impress you for a few months then you realise its boring as hell, even with 650+ hp mines bores the <beep> out me. I've had a few hairy moments when I was getting used to it though. I miss a clutch and gearbox for me to mess about with. I'm done with a high performance daily driver, a jeep and a track toy is the route I'll be sticking to from now on.
