I put my winter setup on last night, opted for the original 19" wheels and the Dunlop sport maxx tyres that were on them :)

If you want to keep the car for a while then the best value way of doing it is a 2nd hand set of OE wheels + something like Vred Wintracs + a set of TPMS sensors if the 2nd wheels don't come with them. That way the car will look the same all year round and you'll be halving the mileage on each set of tyres hence doubling their life - I did the same last year.

Keep an eye on the classifieds as sometimes lightly worn winters are up for sale, which should do just fine.

I've never seen any great deals from suppliers for this sort of package - unlike Porsche for example, who do full OE wheel + tyre sets that work about half the price of buying them all separately

Does Nokian make anything to fit the 9x19 oem wheels?

I had a set of worn wintracs for sale but I was a little optimistic in the pricing (how do you price used tyres anyway??) Might just be worth holding on to them for spares as the price of winter tyres sky rocket just when you get a flat one. If anyone fancies a spare winter 255/35 r19 let me know. I'd be pretty unlucky to need all four!

My new winters are again on an OEM set of wheels. Fancied a change and went for some Perelli Sottozeros. So far so good, but more pricey than the wintracs they replace. They really felt nice when the temperatures went to around zero during my last night on call. Felt a lot more comfortable on hard cornering than my wintracs, but in their defence the wintracs were pretty worn.

I don't think Nokian does 19s. I don't remeber them featuring on my searches. My first choice was a set of Continental 830P's but they would be a delay getting them.

Most of the tyre reviews are on smaller tyres so its hard to make informed choices on winter tyres of the 255/35/19 variety.

I absolutely love driving in the winter.

ebay.de is your best source for these - they were plenty for sale when I bought mine. I think is better than another set of std wheels as they are thinner + easier to clean so very well suited to winter use. Living down South mine are only on for 3 months of the year but still pleased I made the investment - which I think is next to nothing as if buy 2nd hand should be able to sell when change cars so only the tyre wear really.

PN/details for the winter wheels is as follows -

18" RS4 Winter Wheel - 7.5" wide, ET21, 8E0 601 025 AH - if you search ebay.de for the PN should find plenty, mine also had the added bonus of TPMS in all the wheels (wasn't mentioned on the listing so look for silver valve caps).

They do sit quite inboard of the arches but again is good for keeping winter mess down.

Also worth considering for the default 18s that came on the RS4 when new [if you didn't tick the no cost option 19s]. They are 8.5" and the same five spoke design as the true 7.5" winter wheels MB2 mentions above.
