I've been getting the same fault code and intermittent Epc and emissions light on the dash but I also have what feels like the rev limiter cutting in at 6000 rpm.
Car drives fine with no limp home mode and if I steadily build revs it will continue on to 8000rpm but most of the time it splutters at 6000rpm and cuts power..
Driving me nuts
Sounds like you have a similar problem to what I had. I was getting a power cut around 5.5k

One of the flaps had loads of play in it and thats what was causing the intermittent light and confusing it. Your not going to know until the manifold is off thought so its do or die time! I went for the de flap instead of new manifold and its made a huge difference. Now I get full power all the way through the rev range.

Saying that it could also be a vacuum leak. There are a few tests on here you can try out, searching should find them

deflap? whats involved here mate? my epc light seems to come on just in the morning when cold and goes off after few miles of driving and wont come back on till the next morning, im going to get a terraclean done next week i noticed on the exhausts the vac pipes have been cut and plugged so the flaps are open all the time

This sounds similar again mate, mine did that.

The deflap is basically manifold off then tumbler and manifold flaps removed, there are choices as to whether to remove the rod or not. I left mine in so I didnt have to map it out. I am however planning a map in the coming months.
