no idea, but im a fairly logical kinda guy and I dont see how a remap or other mechanic piece of work could cause it. they are either "on" or "off" imho

being possibly controversial either:

@ the figures werent achieved in the first place / its down to variance of the RR
or
@ Its down to degradation of some kind (i.e carbon build up)
or
@ something else? something in the ECU that is limiting power, not playing ball, having a bad hair day

its certainly very strange! interesting though as others have mentioned, the B8 and R8s do make published numbers....

Has anyone ever asked Audi?
I actually emailed Audi last week for an explanation to this topic, they are yet to respond.

Depends on driving styles and fuel quality,my car did 5or6k between various stages of tuning and it was commented that it wasn't bad at all,City driving kills em,they need regular high rpm and long duration to leap em on form

R8 and b8 have improved inlets,I'm damn sure have tuned the b8 so that you have to wring its neck to get it going and a nifty bi product is keeping carbon build up at bay, full Monty tuning of the b7 gives as close as your going to get to sustaining good power levels, stage 2manifold and cold air induction along with a map that give WOT in the lower gears all contribute to much higher flow rates which is what keeps carbon at bay,and of course regular Italian tunes :biggrin3:

Good to meet you all and put some faces to names.

Thanks to Louie for arranging a well run day and for the use of your VCDS.

Interesting comments on BHP, was a bit disappointed in mine, last year on AMD dyno it hit 431 after vac leak fix and carbon clean.

Now a year on down to 397, Ben thinks probably down to a slight vac leak and did find error P1336.

Louie you need to find that vac leak.

Also thanks to Ben and the guys at AMD for a well run day.

Think this may need to become an annual event

Seems AMD's dyno gives a similar reading to MRC as I got 436.6 last week which was not much out from Sunday, also I think the dyno bay was 30 degrees+ which doesn't help things,I have had an AMD map a few years back now, and I can honestly say MRC's map is night and day better

Hi Silas since I had the stage 2 map at amd I don't have any noticeable difference when I m in sport mode? Do you have much of a difference with the mrc map

Agree can't understand motors...I went to paramount (slough)this time four years ago for a rs rr day...dynoed 390 standard..
The next weekend I was out early on the Sunday driving down a dual carriageway near me hardly any motors on the road..was overtaking a v8 m3 I was doing no more than 65 clocked a young fella driving the m3..no sooner had I past him he then sped up to sit up my arse,my initial reaction was bollox he is gonna do me..should I pull over like a <beep> and let him bomb past and pretend it don't bother me or go for it...obviously the latter, we were at it like hammer and tong for a good few minutes, and the rs held its own ..I was so surprised I even followed him onto a B road (wrong way from were I wanted to go) and basically he was holding me up...work that one out..

There's lots of difference in sport, much sharper throttle response more power and torque, as non sport is perfect for slow town driving or when stuck in traffic as the car is dulled down with less throttle sensitivity

To add fuel (excuse the pun) to the Vpower/Momentum debate, my B8 RS4 ran a perfect book 444bhp average (2 runs @ 441 and 447) on Sunday and it had just had a full tank of Asda shitty 94ron fuel in it (leant it to a mate in the week and his wife was kind enough to return it full of the Asda fuel, doh)
I noticed no difference and it was only when I found the receipt in the car that I realised it was crap Supermarket fuel rather than the normal Tesco 99 or Vpower that I religiously run it on.
The only real difference I did notice, is that it blimmin smoked a bit on the rollers, which I've not noticed before on normal hard running, and it was a dark smoke, so likely the ECU over fuelling to compensate for the poor burn rate detected through the knock sensors
Maybe if whoever had the Go-pro set up kept the clips, you'll see just how smokey it was, which never good on a 6month old £64k car :(

Be great to make this a more regular thing ? Maybe a summer and winter occasion and also maybe a drive out if the weather's a bit better

I would like to add my thanks to Louie for organising the meet so well and to AmD for turning out on their day off :beerchug:

I experienced a pretty massive drop off in power compared to when I had the work done to my car by AmD a year or so ago (pre-cats, Milltek, de-coke and Stage 2 map). Back then it made 430 bhp, and yesterday 380... I've done about 14,000 miles in that time with every tank being V-power and very few short journeys. I try and give it a few blasts towards the limiter once warmed up on most trips, but having said that it did feel slightly more lively on the way to work this morning after the clear-out on the rollers!

Ben suspects I have an issue somewhere (MAF possibly, slight vac leak? Carbon building again?), although being the last car of the day on the rollers after my truly shiiite journey on the M25 meant the heat in the booth was apparently pretty bad and could account for the some of the loss. I compared the RR graphs from a year ago and yesterday and despite the difference in power figures the shape of both curves look very similar?!

On the road it still feels good with a decent kick at 5.5k, but I'll go back at some point for them to investigate and see if there's anything clearly amiss with a bit more time to investigate.

Some of you were already gone/going when I arrived (feck the M25) but it was good to catch up and talk RS4 trivia with a few people!
