Sorry - parking sensor questions again !

Post by WillRS » Mon Sep 30, 2013 1:45 pm

1. is it possible with the standard RS4 head unit or one of the newer ones from the A3 to get the onscreen graphics to come up showing the distance of objects from the various sensors ? Had this in my courtesy car last week and found it a lot more useful than just the beeping which doesn't allow for things like low walls or cats which might be lurking :)

2. As i've mentioned a number of times now my sensors intermittently work. the car has been in with camberley audi for a few days for a service and getting my deflating bolsters sorted but the whole time its been in with them the parking sensors have worked flawlessly. I get the car home, first time I go to move it, the sensors again fail to activate and then continue to play up over the course of the morning. Took it back in, they plug it in to diagnose and of course no faults logged and the system works perfectly. I can't do a warranty claim for a seemingly imaginery fault and as all the sensors do indeed seem to be working (when they activate) it looks like it could be the control unit which is apparently £102 + vat ? does anyone have a diagram to show location of the unit (think its in the boot) and any instructions etc - think it needs coding once fitting ?

any advice appreciated as am determined whilst I'm in the "fixing things" mood to get the sodding sensors working !!

Not possible even with a 2010+ unit that supports it as the canbus on the B7 doesn't support.

it could be possible in theory, we install a lot of PDC's (OEM) ones however it would require a new control unit and possibly new sensors and wiring. so put a a3 2012 spec PDC into and Rs4 with the control unit and RNS-E. but it would be a big job and you would have to know what you doing with the install and coding.
