RS4 splitter...

Post by Cal.rs4 » Mon Sep 30, 2013 7:27 pm

What's everyone think of putting a splitter on the front of their rs4's? I've had it lowered on h&r springs and just think it could do with one to make it look a lil lower?

Covered in depth in the thread where Argon ended up fabricating 2 types for the RS4. Can't remember the title of the thread but I'm sure it'll come up on a search. Until that point there was only 1 real option which was the DTM one which was slightly too narrow for the wider RS4. I have one sitting in my garage that I never got round to fitting.

Unfortunately it looks like most of the pics (posted by Caldy) are no longer available.

Kay's pm replied to...like I said to him the pictures really don't do either splitter justice, they both look much better in the flesh..argon's DTM style one does fit the bumper properly(compared to the seat one that some have fitted)and the race style is not as bulky as the pictures make it look..

Jay, there was a carbon A4 DTM one too, which is the one I've got (not fitted though), but like the seat one was too narrow for the flared RS4.

It may not be quite wide enough to go right out to the front of the arches but I think the subtle way it blends in looks just fine. Plus, it is a genuine Audi part...... and it doesn't look like an aftermarket add-on. The Argon ones may be nice quality but they are far too much 'in yer face' for me, just not the way I think an RS4 should look.

Got to say,I agree with Iain on this.

I don't think they blend in with the curves on the RS4. The engineering looks excellent, but unfortunately, i just think they look a bit out of place.

Just my opinion of course. :bigwave:

I'm undecided on the Argon one too. I agree with Alex too in that the quility and finish of the Argon ones look excellent and ease of fitment can;t be beat. As the A4 DTM wasn't made for the RS4 it is not a straight fit but I do recall reading about a fitting kit. Needless to say mine is still sitting in the garage. I do think I prefer it to the argon one... if only it was easier to fit.

Mike, my fitting kit consisted of a few packets of different thickness rubber tap washers and some extra strong double sided tape! It was easy to fit if a little fiddly perhaps, just be careful before drilling the holes to move aside any hoses etc. If i can do it anyone can!

Tim, no, its the genuine Audi DTM solid carbon one, its a beautiful piece of kit.

Hmmm, you make it sound so easy it might creep back onto my todo list.
