Have you got an electrical or hydraulical background, any vessel experience?
Currently doing seismic work offshore on a vessel. Have bosiet etc. Got some experience of electrics and hydraulics doing that. Looking for any avenues to get on a rig to be honest Graeme.

its not the easiest thing to get into. just a case of right place right time for most it seems. Unless you know someone.....nothing like a bit of offshore nepitism. Just keep sending your cv's to ROV companies, ring them up frequently to ask if theyre taking on soon etc etc.

ROVs arent platform work generally tho. You might go on a platform to do some inspection work but you wont be getting that nice 2on/3off youre probably looking for.
Thanks for the advice. I really want to get something closer to home. My rotaion is 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off, plus i'm in Malaysia so the travelling is starting to get pretty hard. What is the normal rotation for ROV's? You must have a bit of experience in this field?

I'm really quite impressed with the lack of comedy entries on this thread, very professional and well behaved indeed.

Must be a nice wage with the tax relief but that is a long time away from home and a lot of days every year! It depends if you work for a big company or not, they tend to have long term contracts where you will be regular4/5/6 on and the same off. Smaller companies tend to have shorter contracts and more infrequent work thats seasonal so you will get dicked around a lot more with irregular rotations in order to make your days for the year. Gotta start somewhere tho right. If youre looking for a steady rotation then rigs are your best bet. Nice steady 2 on/ 2 off for a tidy wage. Just avoid the super pumas ey.....

Well i have experience as an rov engineer but i did some analog survey before this job as it was a step in the right direction. I'm ex RAF as well though and companies seem to be a big fan of that, especially offshore.
