It's come to the time to get another mortgage product on one of my properties (first time I've finished a product) and I was wondering whether to go for repayment or interest only? I'm currently having an extension on my house and could do with the lower payments on the buy to let to fund the work. Just wondering what you would recommend really, ideally it would be short term.Baz4 wrote:Yip full time landlord/property developer. Any reason?

Currently doing seismic work offshore on a vessel. Have bosiet etc. Got some experience of electrics and hydraulics doing that. Looking for any avenues to get on a rig to be honest Graeme.brn7y wrote:Have you got an electrical or hydraulical background, any vessel experience?alex020869 wrote:How easy or difficult is it to get into this? Personally I would go with fixed term/rate interest only, there are some good low rates to be had. I have always gone with interest only as my investments are long term (10/15 years). if your not planning on selling soon then yeah interest only and invest the money where you see fit. Seems like the base rate is going to stay low for a while, better you have money in your own pocket than in the the banks pockets has always been my motto.

its not the easiest thing to get into. just a case of right place right time for most it seems. Unless you know someone.....nothing like a bit of offshore nepitism. Just keep sending your cv's to ROV companies, ring them up frequently to ask if theyre taking on soon etc etc.
ROVs arent platform work generally tho. You might go on a platform to do some inspection work but you wont be getting that nice 2on/3off youre probably looking for.

Cheers for the advice Baz, I plan on doing this with my other buy to let too. Although you say long term with yours, surely long term wouldn't repayment be the better option, so you've got more money in the property?Baz4 wrote:CunniBlingus wrote:It's come to the time to get another mortgage product on one of my properties (first time I've finished a product) and I was wondering whether to go for repayment or interest only?
