I'm upgrading my brakes with Loba front Discs, JHM rear and goodridge hoses all round.

I'm stack with pads . I use the car mostly for my Sunday mountain fast rides and occasional track days and little for city driving.

I like ferodo D2500 which I used on my Impreza, however ferodo make pads only for the front on the RS4 and I want to have same pads front and rear.

My next options are Pagid Blue RS4-2, or even the yellow RS29, next option is Endless MX72, but cant find any reviews.
Dust is no problem, however noise is! :bigblink:

Don't get Loba unless you are properly on the brakes a lot! Not for a street car imo. I'm going to get phaeton disks for my old bells.

?????? lol i wouldnt :piss: on phateton discs.

i run loba front discs with ds2500 pads with oem rear discs and pads and love them, they been well tested on the nurburgring and on the stelvio pass.

IMHO the Loba discs are the right choice as Audi Standard discs are rubbish. I have ds2500 on the front with 380mm brembo pads and they are really good. Like you i have been looking for ds2500 rear pads, but could not find a UK supplier, but did find a motorsport company that supplied them from poland. I had PAGID Blue pads on my 500Hp impreza and they were really good and didnt squeal.


I have Carbon Lorraine pads on my trackday Clio 172 and they are the best pads i have ever used but they are way too loud for road use.

Why wouldnt you use the loba discs, any track disc can be used on the road. Its the pads that needs thinking about..

I would respectively disagree... I installed the Loba's last year and love them... for street and track... the key issue that determines the spend... is are you planning to keep the car for 2+ years... if yes... the initial cost (more than OEM) will be recouped when you replace the next set of rotors... On top of that, the Loba's are directional (unlike OEM, 1 side has the brake fins running the wrong way!).

I was also VERY VERY happy with Lob'a help and guidance... and it is a BEAUTIFUL setup!!... I ended up with 2004? RS6 OEM pads... although I will go to the Ferodo 2500 next time. (actually will use them in summer and the RS6 for winter (Canada).

When I first hopped on the brakes after install (and after bedding)... I had thigs flying around in my boot... from under the seats that I didnt know they were there... perhaps my old discs/ pads were tired... but it was a massive improvement.

Not true. On the OEM discs yes you can argue that the pattern of the drilled holes goes in the wrong direction on one side but they do not significantly (if at all) contribute to brake cooling. On the RS4 they are usually blocked up anyway and regularly need drilled out.
The OEM discs do not have curved vanes and use Brembo pillar venting technology. The shaped pillars will work to move air the same way whichever way the disc rotates

RS29's are ceramic endurance pads. They will be louder than anything you could imagine ;)
I used their previous version and it was really hard going. If you must go that way then I would take the RS14 Black over the 29's.

As an aside, I've never drilled to clear the holes from oem and never had them blocked. Sure a little residue building up but a clear hole through. And that's with 27k on discs and pads.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I found the MX72 at a fairly good price directly from Japan. I will give them a try and give some feedback here once installed. However they need confirmation on the pads' shape. Does anybody know where I can find the shape of the pads? I'm too busy (and lazy) to take mine out ... :bigblink:
