Got this today and want to share with you all

Post by Firestarter » Wed Aug 14, 2013 6:22 pm

Evening chaps
I sorted my Insurance out the other day with Admiral who were the best quote by a country mile. Today I got an email from them regarding Warranty cover that they provide. Anyway I thought I would have a nose at it and as soon as it took me to "Warranty Direct" I thought here we go this is going to be one of these policies that you need a telescope the size of Hubble to read the small print :bash: I decided to enter my details just to see what it generated.

Well to my surprise the quote for one year was £1085, 2 years £2062 & 3 years £2985. So this appears to be on par with the Audi Warranty, however look at this section regarding ware & tare :thumb:

http://admiral2.warrantydirect.co.uk/wear.html

Correct me if im wrong but Audi nor any other policy I have seen covers for ware and tare :<beep>_you:

Comments welcome as this looks like a policy that will prevent the issues often attributed to ware and tare and as described in the link :jump_clap:

Unusually upfront and down to earth language describing that policy, how refreshing! As admiral also insure my RS 4 I'd been keen to know if anyone has made a significant and successful claim in this warranty type. Very interesting and thanks for sharing!

I'd read the contract in very fine detail. That page is a marketing page, so what it *doesn't* say is probably more important than what it does :)

You might find there's something about "pre-existing conditions" or some such clause.

IMV you'd be better off putting that money somewhere safe and using it as your "maintenance fund" if you've not used £3k in 3 years then it's yours.

+1
Was going to say the exact same thing.
Ask for the full policy t&c's first and not a webpage.

I took out a warranty with Warranty Direct. For mine I had to pay for an inspection before the warranty started, which apparently means that the "pre-existing conditions" bit doesn't apply because if it was already there they would have noticed it when inspecting. Haven't had to call on it yet though, so can't say how it would hold up in reality :-)

If it's the same package as I had, they also pro-rata the amount they will pay for parts after the vehicle is over 6 (?) years old - I think they pay something like 80% of parts cost if vehicle between 6-7 years old, but still pay 100% of labour rate. Think labour rate is capped at £150/hour on mine.

Before I took out the warranty I specifically asked about DRC, and that would be covered.

That does sound good but, as others have found, getting any warranty company to pay up can be a problem sometimes.

I have a contingency fund instead.

They don't cover mods. Just spoken to them so bollocks to it. I will create a sludge fund for any "unforeseen" issues :bigblink:

Forgive me and this is no way intended as a personal slur - but if you are looking at warranty schemes are you really financially prepared to accept a RS4?

Not including mods I've prob spent £3k since Jan and I'm up for a clutch/oil/brake fluid which *could* be upwards of £2k including labour.
Then there's the mods I have done..... :bigblink: .... ker-bloody-ching

Create yourself a slush fund, because you will defiantly need it!
