If you have a warranty, take it back. If not, then something is going to go, and it will be expensive. Bite the bullet and thrash the <beep> out of it. At least you will have fun before the bill hits the mat! :biggrin3:

It's got a warranty it doesn't say anything about the clutch not being covered fingers crossed

Just out of interest how much is the clutch and flywheel going to cost to get replaced if the dealership plays hard ball?

If you are takeing it out, it makes sense to replace the lot. Labour is a big factor. Mine went big time, independant specialist including the return pipe, (i had the old plastic one) circa £2k.

I have the flywheel, going to polish it up and make a clock out of it. Just need to find a wall with an rsj to hang it on!

If you source the parts yourself - or give the indy the price you can get them for you will get the price down.

I was able to source the clutch kit from Eurocar parts and the flywheel from APS - local indy dealer matched those prices and supplied (better they suppky in case something goes wrong once fitted).

With parts labour and vat my came in at £1,710 which included the clutch return pipe being fitted.

Be prepared to have to buy new manifold studs as they are a pain to get out and 4 of mine needed drilling and retapping (there are 6 in total)

The clutch material had split and come away from one of the rivets, this must of been opening slightly at high rpm only as it was all very normal at round town speeds.
Full new genuine clutch including flywheel fitted courtesy of autotechnica.

Same as before but changes at high rpm,i had no other typical symptoms at all that's why it was a bit of head scratcher until it was removed.I wouldn't say it was freak but theres two ex audi master techs at autotechnica and neither had come across it before so......

Add me to the list of people with clutch problems :( Biting point gradually dropped over a day then couldn't get a gear. Suspected (hoped and prayed) it was hydraulic after reading some post and had an absolute mare replacing the master/clutch line/slave. Even after fitting all three and doing a proper bleed still dead. Pedal feels good with the engine off but it's really sloppy when it's running

Now suspect it's the pressure plate that's shot so need to get some recommendations for a good specialist in the Glasgow area.

There goes the miltek budget :(

To see if your clutch is slipping put it in sixth gear at about 25-30 mph and go full throttle. Watch for rpm spikes (the clutch slipping).

Lots of these problems posted however sound pressure plate related. We are seeing lots of pressure plate failures over here of late (We got the rs4 in 2007, so we are a little behind the UK euro market with respect to age of our cars.

Jhm has an aftermarket stage 3, 4 and 5 clutch, as well as a lightweight flywheel (shaves 10 lbs at the... flywheel lol) that works very well however they use the oem pressure plate and a few customers are reporting problems which all seem to point back to the pressure plate. They have developed an all new pressure plate to solve it and go with their lightweight flywheel and clutches.

Thanks sakimano. I currently can't even get a gear so can't move the car to test this. When it was mobile it did feel like it lacked punch (maybe starting to slip?) but didn't want to push it given the rapid decline of the clutch biting point at the time.

Good to hear that there are other options out there rather than just replacing with something which might very well go again. Need to look into that.

I have issues right now
No prior warning no slipping gear change was smooth etc driving last week clutch on and the pedal never came back up car stalled and would not go in gear stealers had a look ruled out slave and master looks like maybe pressure plate or a full replacement sending the car to an Indy as Audi want between 6 and 12 hours labour
Just wanted to ask you guys if anyone has changed the dual mass for a single as I have been recommended has anyone that has done this noticed any differences in drive ??
And what brand of clutch and flywheel is best to go for I know of the luk one is there any others ??
