First baby on the way...
First baby on the way...
Need to make provisions... help appreciated.
How do I know if my RS4 B7 has isofix?
Is it law for isofix to be fitted to all cars, even other super sports cars? If yes, from which year?

Congratulations! My rs4 is an 07 plate and has isofix (and it does have enough room for all the stuff you'll need to carry) - easiest way to check is to have a look where the seat and seat back meet on the back seats (you may need to push the leather a little bit), you should find a couple of metal rectangular hoops - they're the isofix points.

Re: First baby on the way...
No it is not law to have isofix.
Isofix was invented by Volvo as they did a study into child seats. The conclusions are that for group 0 and 1 seats there is no difference to the safety of the seat with respect to belts or isofix. The issue that was found is that fitting of the belts is critical and some parents don't get it right. Isofix is more a definate yes or a definate no so easier to determine if fitted properly. That's it - belts properly sorted are not an issue.

Congratulations...
All RS4s (irrespective of whether you have buckets or recaros) have isofix in the rear. Buckets never have isofix in the front, but recaros might have, depending on whether it was specified as a no cost option - although it appears as if some cars were delivered with it automatically
If you have recaros, you'll know you also have front passenger isofox if there's an airbag deactivation switch in the glovebox

Not true - all cars have an air bag deactivate switch. Just because you don't have isofix doesn't mean you can't legally put a rear facing child seat in the front seat using the seat belts.Dom81 wrote:Congratulations...

Re: First baby on the way...
Are you sure about all cars having the switch - if so, quite a few people have failed to find something very obvious?

Re: First baby on the way...
I definately DON'T have the deactivation switch in my glovebox. (and wish I did) I started a thread on this a while back. I have buckets.
Re: First baby on the way...
I have buckets, no switch in glove box. The RS is fine for little ones. Loads of boot space for buggy and shopping. Gets cosy if you want two adults plus car seat in the back.. I have a base that is kept in the car, the seat clips into that. Easy.
Re: First baby on the way...
Well I've just learnt something new today! Sure enough I now have my two seats strapped back in with Isofix. ThanksDom81 wrote:

You can get three seats in the back but not using isofix. Tight but doable.
