8mm spacers - before and after

Post by sync24 » Thu May 02, 2013 6:52 pm

Just a quick post for reference really, I went from 275x30 Vred's today to 255x35 Goodyear's with 8mm spacers. Thought those who where considering it would like to see before and after pics. to Event tyres for fitting and  to virdee for the spacers/re-sized bolts including lockers. Amazing what 8mm will do and from the back the car's looks much better - KWv3 coilovers next week :biggrin2: more pics to come

Cheers.

Kev.

Looks awesome!

Today I had to change my order from 10mm H&R spacers to 8mm because apparently they no longer make the 10mm with the 150mm hub diameter.

Your pictures definately reassure me that 8mm and 275/30 v12 tires will look great.

Yep - just a little at the back but the front for sure - I want to match the front to the rear ride height without it being silly.

Looks good fella..I am waiting for my re ordered 265/30s to turn up,rather than my original decision of 275/30s..which means I can also keep running my spacers as well...

Humm, interesting. I'm just about to do some spacer purchasing.

There seem to be a few brands doing 10mm hubcentrics still, but those 8mm's are looking pretty good up rear.

Oooo I do like girth!

Only just coming from the Golf R32 scene, what does surprise me are a lot of you like running pretty huge width tyres, 275's! That really surprises me.

Uhm - :o I would double check your figures as 275x30 tyres are 20mm wider and with 8mm spacers you are likely to go beyond the wheel arch.
I originally wanted spacers with my 275's and Virdee [a spacer supplier/fountain of knowledge here] in as many words stopped short of not selling them to me.

I had a choice of 275's with no spacers or 255's with 8mm spacers to go with my setup especially as I am going to KWv3's

I would strongly advise you give him a call - I am sure he would not mind giving you the correct advice.

I am amazed at how much 8mm a side can totally change the way the car looks

I think a lot of people run 275's as they offer a bit more rim protection plus they do look nice! :)

I'm gonna get flamed here Sync, but I've always loved a bit (not too much) stretch and a tasty drop = a lovely stance (runs and hides)!!!!

I know, I know, less road contact ruins handling!

I guess I'm just getting used to a proper drivers car that all it realistically needs is 16mm widening and a 25/30mm drop, even then I guess that may be a tad too much for some.

I did my research and found that many guys run 275/30 pss with 10mm spacers all around with minimal rubbing under full load and hard cornering. I went with 8mm and 275 v12's (which are thinner than the pss) so should be good.

I will report back after install and let you know if they work out.

I got 4 x 8mm H&R spacers,20 new longer bolts & 4 new longer locking wheel bolts for £215 from Virdee

Thanks! I've not had it done but the previous owner may have had some minor detailing last summer - I just keep it clean by hand washing weekly
It's going in for a front and rear respray and a 5 day detail in June - I'll be well pleased if it looks anywhere near as nice as Sila's :notworthy:

It doesn't look so much as detailed but just very clean, but Kev your arches look huge in that first pic!!!!! (that's huge in a good bulbous way!)

275 and 8mm spacers might be too much, 275 and 10mm is defo too much as I said in a post earlier today as the tyre is 20mm wide (10mm on inside and 10mm on the outside) added to a 10mm spacer is the equivalent of a 20mm spacer with the standard tyres and that is just too much with any weight in the back.

This thread lists a handful of guys running 275/30 with 10mm.

Hoping the 8mm works, but I do appreciate the advice.
