hmm mixed reports on this tcat. i need the front two but then its also recommended to change the whole lot because of the diagonal configuration. i would change one out though if that was all that was necessary.

the big question is! will it last though. are these any better than the first lot. mines an 07 plate. have you got a knock on the front then??

if its weeping then it needs changing. However the text below is taken from an Audi PDF document i found on the net detailing how the DRC should be serviced. Take note of the last line (the doc serves for RS4 and RS5)

Updates relating to the DRC plus running gearNew features/changes on the RS5
Notes about the DRC plus running gear (RS5)

Electronic diagnosis:

The adjusting elements for the N336 to N339 shock absorbers are controlled by the J197 control unit for electronic damping control.

The Hall sensors for the damping electronics communicate the position of the control motors via a pulse-width modulated signal to the J197 control unit.

The same diagnosis addresses as the vehicle level sensors have been used for the Hall sensors!

Acoustics:

In some cases, complaints are received regarding impact noises when driving over speed bumps (when rebounding)

The noise can mainly be reproduced when using the "convenience" setting

The noise is inherent in the system and occurs in the shock absorbers due to the impact-like pressure drop when rebounding quickly (gas compensation volumes in the central valve)

Part replacement not required –this is the nature of the technology!

Don't know where you got the document extract from, but it's not relevant to the B7 - probably B8 chassis (RS5 & RS4). There's reference to electronic controllers and sensors (there are none on the B7, it's a purely mechanical system), and convenience setting, which sounds like reference to the ADS system on the B8.
Current: Macan Turbo, Boxster 987 S
Gone: RS6 C6 Avant, RS4 B7 Avant, Tamora Speed Six

YEP im aware that theres no electronics involved but merely stating that you may experience the odd knock due to the design of the system as stated

The updated procedure is relevant to both b7 and b8 but obviously some b8 specifics.
