RS4 3 Year Anniversary

Post by Astoria » Tue Jan 15, 2013 5:04 pm

Purchased my RS4 (B7 Avant in Daytona Grey) in Feb 2010 with 37,000 miles and one previous owner. Collecting a new car is always an exciting experience, and I remember picking the car up and driving off and not quite believing I was now an "RS4 owner"

So, nearly three years later I am still excited to be an RS4 owner and I dont care what Jeremy Clarkson says, RS4 owners are far cooler than M3 owners 8)

Only problem I have had in three years was with the traction control light flickering on intermittently. This was traced to a faulty throttle body which was replaced under warranty bu Audi.

I take the car to Camberley Audi for servicing, customer service is excellent, though they can get a bit carried away with their pricing.

I dont use the car everyday and I have covered 15K over three years. The downside to this is the car can feel a little grumpy for a while if left undriven for a week or more. I believe this is down to choking, and a fresh tank of Shell and a few visits to 8000RPM over a few days soon has the car back to running sweetly again.

I still adore the RS4 and I have been in all sorts of other cars (AMG's, AM Vantages, Porsche Cayennes, RR Sports etc) and none drive as nicely as the RS4.

The car can feel a little clumsy at full lock on small mini roundabouts, but out on a quiet A or B road the handling & performance tied to "that" engine make for a truly great experience!

Interestingly I have never felt the need to take it on a track - be interested to hear what experiences other owners have had on track in the RS4?

Petrol consumpiton is bad, but its not that bad......21-25MPG on a motorway run are the best I ever get.

No plans to sell after three years of ownership !
