Cold air feed fitted with pic's

Fitted cold air feed to day + aux radiator delete + clean and hammerite oil cooler pipes,

Used 100mm pipework for cold air feed, deleted aux radiator did not use T.piece took pipe from normal radiator into where other end of aux rad pipe work goes so removing radiator plus all pipe work and thermostat thingy, Checked oil cooler pipes they where all good but i still cleaned and hammerite them all.

Sounds great with a lovely induction noise from any rpm.

Just need to cut the old air deflector into shape and refit to cover the oil cooler pipe work and buy and fit a nice end section for the cold air feed.

New pipework.

Cleaned and painted oil cooler pipes.

Bumper refitted.

Or does the pipe just push onto the the air box

you will have no worries with your oil pipes, mine were a lot worse before I cleaned and hammerited mine.

Roy - I did a how to on this, it's in the FAQ section shows where the pipe dots into the airbox.

Good job. However I think you should have gone for the black hose as the silver will be to visible imo, as you dont want to me looking like a Barry boy with the latest 57i induction kit fitted. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorspor ... ing-hose-2 Discreet is better imo however horses for courses and all that...

I see you caught a leak just in time, looks like your aux rad was starting to leak, pink crystals can be seen at the bottom, a trait of dried G12 coolant.

Yes sonny aux rad was very slightly leaking which is one of the reasons I started the jobs the other being when i heard about the oil cooler pipe possible fault and it would be rude not to fit the cold air feed whilst i am there and i am glad i did as it sounds great now and yes the new end for my pipe is ordered and i will painting the pipe black when i fit the new end just to make it all look smart.

Sonny i take it you have no trouble with water getting upto your air filter though the cold air feed (just wonderring with all this rain about)

The pipe fits on filter with a jub clip which fits on part of the flap unit that you remove and dismantel,

No chance of water problems.
The airbox has three feeds - the caf/flap, above the radiator and over the drivers wing.
As such even if the caf was to be totally submerged the engine would simply draw in air from the other two as this offers considerably less resistance (try using a straw with a tiny hole in it;))
The caf pipe is corrugated in order to be flexible so every you got a high pressure jet wash and shot it up the caf it wouldn't get too far.
Even then the water would need to get through the airbox, past the throttle body, and then it'd drop into the intake manifold. The intake trumpets face down and are suspended over the intake manifold so again, incredibly limited chance of getting in.

Even THEN if it did it would be so fine that it would probably help things by washing the intake valves of carbon.

Iv not experienced no problems with water, dont block off the wing vent as this helps the air flow flowing through the air box when the throttle is closed, otherwise you get drag, and possible hear the air building up in the air box. Im sure i can hear this at high speed. Anyone else?
