Cold air feed
Cold air feed
I have owned my car for a while and fancy doing a couple of mods nothing to major just fancy doing a bit of tweaking,
So I am Thinking of fitting a cold air feed and deleting the aux radiator, I have couple of questions that hopefully someone can help me with,
1, Is it obvious when i remove the aux rad where to connect the water pipes i remove from the aux radiator.
2, Can i remove the other aux rad why i am there or does this need to stay in use,
3, I am going to make up my own cold air feed kit up but have read about removing part of the filter box (air flap) Is this worth doing this whilst i am there, I don't want to remap the car though,
4, Or should i just leave well alone,
5, Any good links or info would be helpful.

2)nope / I'd leave it alone
3) the cold sir kit replaces the air box flap. It's how the caf connects to the airbox. Just plug the vacuum line and cable tie out of the way. No need to remap anything.

Are right, Is it quite obvious where and how they should fit when i have removed the aux rad or has any one got a picture or diagram of pipe work, Thankscaldy wrote:You'll need to fabricate a T piece to join the water pipes.

Shows the T piece in place. Had it fabricated at a radiator repair shop, complete with fluted ends.

I bought this rogue pipe from a VAG spares garage and modified it to facilitate the feeding of the cold air feed tube past the air pump pipework coz it's a tight fit. If you're remapping the removal of the air pump then you won't need this. My flap shafts are still in situ and moving, although without the flaps and vanes.

I bought this rogue pipe from a VAG spares garage and modified it to facilitate the feeding of the cold air feed tube past the air pump pipework coz it's a tight fit. If you're remapping the removal of the air pump then you won't need this. My flap shafts are still in situ and moving, although without the flaps and vanes.

The pump provides the vacuum that moves the inlet manifold flaps. If you remove the pump then the shafts will not move and the positioning sensors will throw a fault code, unless you 'map out' these sensors.

Is the stopping the flaps a good mod and why would you do this ?, Sorry to keep asking questions but may as do as much as i should why bumper is of, When i remove the thorttle flap thing is that quite obvious how to do this and i take it the cold air feed fits where the flap body used to be,

Not quite. It's the secondary air injection pump. It is used only on stone cold starts to pump air into the exhaust to take account of the rich mixture used during warming to help the catalytic converter operate quicker.caldy wrote:The pump provides the vacuum that moves the inlet manifold flaps. The manifold flaps are powered by traditional engine vacuum.

I am going to get t, piece and pipe work today/tomorrow, Can any one tell me the diameter and length of the pipe that fits on to air filter and down to the bumper and how you secure to air filter assembly (Cold air feed) and is the aux radiator pipe work heater hose size pipe work. Thanks in advance, Tim
