DIY, Front brake pads and disc replacement

Replaced both front discs and pads with OEM yesterday, but now the brake warning symbol keeps coming on in the dash. This happened after changing the first side. I've taken the wheel back off today and re-seated the sensor but it still comes on. Sometimes not, but then will after a short drive.

Any ideas?

Yep, in fact that overflowed, had to soak some out. Could it be too full?

What is the exact symbol you are getting?

Make sure the new pads wear sensors are fitted correctly ( push in connectors) or that one of the wires has not split/snapped at the calliper connections.

Symbol is the yellow circle with pads each side.

After we changed the first side, I turned the car around for better access and noticed the symbol. I've checked that side and the sensor seems OK. Sometimes the car will start without the sensor indicating, but come on after driving. MTS be earthing somewhere...

Mine does that sometimes I think the connector is slightly corroded. It will correct it self for a while and then come back on for no apparent reason. I just put up with it. when the weather gets warmer and I have some spare time I will clean the connectors.

I had this also when I fitted my race pads. The wires I had used to bridge the connections had corroded at the base of the plastic connector. You would never have noticed it unless you got up close.

Worn pads sometimes bridge the connection on the wear sensors tripping the wear sensor, but then it may open the connection due to pad dust/debris moving about.

Turned out to be the connection - pulled it apart and 'cleaned' it with a jewellers screwdriver just by poking around to clear corrosion dust. Put back together, 300 miles yesterday, now issues

Does anyone know the size of the hex bolt that hold the disks in place? Its the tool in this job I don't have and doing them over the next few days.

It would a Torx head socket required, looking at the thread I've linked to below they say on there that the size is a T30:

I haven't had my wheels off yet to inspect, so can't confirm for sure.

It's a T30 torx, at least it is on the rear, I'm sure it will be the same on the front

Well, had a go friday and its booked in for weds. Failed at the first hurdle, n/s/f upper pad pin was friction welded or jammed in. Looks like it was a problem last time the pads were done as the point of the pin was flattened (no copper slip in there either) Spose I could've purchased a dremel and cut it out but I had gotten the hump by then

Oh well, will be done soon and she'll be back in business (Meaning love my Audi)
