Hi there.
I am wanting some extra noise on my RS4.
I know this won't be everyones cup of tea but has anyone ever removed the mufflers and replaced them with straight pipes?
Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure, but it's be interesting to hear an OEM system with gutted pre-cats and the centre boxes replaced with straight pipes ... Would certainly be much cheaper than an off the shelf system.

Re: Removing Mufflers Advice
hi
my car has ( when i bought it) only got the centre section replaced by a Milltek straight pipe and as far as i can see all the rest is standard. sounds amazing. with the exhaust flap closed it's sounding like a potent car, but not too loud. with the flaps open (sport button pressed) it just sounds like a super car. really addictively good!! my sport button is always on except when i go to work at 5 in the morning!!

Thanks for the input however I'm referring to purely welding out the stock muffler and replacing it with straight piping.

Why would you want to weld them rather than then just cut out, sleeve and clamp? That way you could put the exhaust back to normal if you were ever to sell. You also have several options available to you. Regarding the central resonators you can remove them and put stright pipes in or for better exhaust scavenging and noise an x or h-pipe (£300-500 for x/h-pipe dependent on which you choose, simialr price to straight pipes). Otherwise for more noise you could replace the back boxes with new ones without baffles in them. Or do both.
Plenty of details on all these options on here on my own former car and others if you ahve a search.
HTH.
