Guys, this all seems very wrong to me - I'm sure some more experienced guys will rock up here and comment soon but MRC did mine very quickly with just turning a couple of screws. It can put the headlights out, however, but I used my VCDS cable to reset them. It's definitely not a bumper off job unless you're talking about something else.

Correct, it's indeed as simple as turning 2 screws namely the bumper adjusters as shown earlier in the thread, provided the bumper is hooked on to these adjusters correctly. In many cases the bumper is not seated correctly onto the adjusters and then it does mean a bumper off job.

Tbh to do it correctly I think you need to loosen all the bolts (including the ones accessible from the wheelarch) - otherwise you'll have tension (depending on how much adjustment is needed).

I had to loosen the two screws located in each wheelarch. Just turning the adjustors without loosening the wheelarch screws had no effect at all.

Bumper droop is common across all B7 cars, not just the RS. It was a mechanically-botched front end facelift from the B6.

+1

Access to the bulbs/headlights is another major c*ck-up on the B7 compared to the B6. Shows what happens when styling is given the lead role over engineering.

I had the front grille on my B7 RS4 swapped today for a black optic version. We didn't adust any of the items specified above, but the bumper gap is now around twice as much as before. The gap between the bumper & headlamp is perfect, though it is around 13mm between the bonnet and top of the grille! (I'll post a picture when it gets light)

Any ideas on why this is and which one of the above adjustments might do the trick? Thanks.

It's possible that when you put it back on you stuck it into the adjuster rather than on top of it ?

Thanks, here's a picture:

The gap is so big that it looks like the bonnet isn't shut..... :(

Will be replacing the headlamp bulbs in a few days so will try again to refit the bumper.

+1 Definitely not on the adjusters correctly, same gap as mine and I have already confirmed that my bumper is off the adjusters. Will do the bumper off and on procedure soon to get it fixed.

My Avant has got a similar gap and I'm pretty confident the bumper isn't sitting on the adjusters correctly just like yours.

However I'm interested to know if you've got a similar gap between the bumper and the front wings (just ahead of the front wheels)?? My bumper has no gap where it meets the wings but a large gap where it meets the bonnet.
Is this the normal situation with 'bumper droop'?

Yeah, that's pretty std from what I've seen
Mine was the same, I genuinely thought there's no way the bumper could lift at the front without looking wrong at the wing.
Aud replaced the adjusters on mine at the same time and it sits a good 10mm closer than before
