Hi does anyone know any company's that will do the upgrade, as it looks a fiddley job and can't be doing with the hassle? Also other than the improved display are there any other significant improvements? Cheers

Couldn't name any, but I'm sure there are. Most car stereo places should be able to do the physical swap (probably not the bezel change though), you'll need a garage/stealer/mate with the VAGCOM stuff to make the software changes though.

Also other than the improved display are there any other significant improvements? Cheers

Compatibility with CAN AMI so you get a proper iPod/iPhone interface, can use a hard disk, etc.

I run a car audio installation company in Blackpool. I recently changed mine to a 2012 unit. With some great direction off Dalo and some equally great advise off PetrolDave it's superb. I can do the complete swap for you and reprogramme it. Just PM me if you're near and interested.
