Sure is! The problem with my racks is the depth of them, the open wide enough its just the frame is too wide...if that makes sense??

Yes, I had a similar problem with my old Scott - funny shaped tubes. Will measure the clamp and come back to you.

Sorry for the thread resurrection... did you ever get around to taking photos with a roof box on beside the bike rack??
About to make an investment, would love to see what it looks like first!

This is what you want to do...(any excuse to whore out a photo)

http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... t=roof+box

This is a Kamei Corvara roofbox 310 long and narrow. If you have the bars that sit above the roofrails you can easily move the box across and get a bike rack on. Even with the flush setup I can move the box over enough to just get a bike on.

EDIT: Just re-read your post. Sorry no pics with the bike also on :bigblink:

Cheers! Looks well in matching colour!
I gather the low slung Thule boxes would be too wide alongside the bike rack?

If you are running flush bars like Pro rack whispbars it is a possibility the B7 isnt a very wide car so you would need the bars that sit above the roof rails to maximise your roof real estate. A low slung thule maythen be able to be pushed right out to the edge then. Suggest you measure twice buy once!

I've been using Thule 591's on my avant too. It's a decent, sturdy system
It's pretty stable, but I do find that I get a small amount of flex when I clamp my heavier 29'er on there, whereas it's fine with a carbon road bike or BMX
Could just be the cheapo hlafords bars the Thule system's mounted on I suppose

Back mounted systems are ok, but I've seen them go through rear windows on big potholes not to mention the amount of scratch damage you can get on the car

OP, that Orange5's a nice bit of kit

I've not measured the grip opening, but it's a pretty decent size, so would almost certainly get around the downtube of a Scott ransom as was asked earlier. It goes around my Specialized transition TT Bike D/tube and that's huge

Fwiw, if you don't do the front clip right down tight when there's no bikes on the racks, you get a right irritating whistle around 85-90

Hi,

Sorry to hijack the thread but if anyone does want some Whispbars for their RS4 I have some going on Ebay. I would be willing to let a forum member have them for £100 cash on collection from Kingston before the auction ends.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Whispbar-S53- ... 500wt_1413

Just FYI I have been using them with 3 Thule 591 bike carriers squeezed on although admittadly one of those had a kid's bike on it. I've moved on to Thule aero bars which are nowhere near as cool but are longer so I can fit a box and 2 bikes on the roof.

Cheers,
Noel.

Just fitted a Thuele box and bike carrier.... sorry now I didnt go for the flush Whispbars as they would have just about fitted together on them. But I can always add a second bike carrier in future.
About to drive to Lake Garda, was wondering if there is any speed restrictions i should be wary off with the bike on the roof?? Doesnt feel the sturdiest thing in the world but you all say you have had no problems....
Just hope I dont forget about them when I get buzzed by a Porsche on the motorway!
