JHM supplier?

OK so I'm seriously considering a JHM short shift kit to tighten up the gear changes, possibly the full trio package.

Does anyone know if any of our sponsors are able to supply JHM stuff or anyone a regular traveller to the US that could help out?

I have the trio kit it's notchy as Fcuk on the higher reduction setting and ok on the other

Thanks for your input Danny, a few questions for you:

- I take it you have tried adjusting it to get it right?
- How is vibration/harshness through the gear knob with the trio kit? Is it too harsh for everyday?
- Would it be any better with just the basic short shifter?

I hadn't experienced the 'softer' setting as I went straight in with the maximum reduction, at the time I thought it was great as the stock gear change is way too long for me. I then started having issues with certain gear selection, mainly reverse and 1st into 2nd. I had it adjusted to the other available setting and it is superb really enjoyable no vibrations or harshness just a nice clean gear change. Trio package makes sense as its all the bearings etc included, it is a very good upgrade just do not go to the maximum reduction setting its not that enjoyable now I've experienced both

Thanks for that Dan, much appreciated. Do you know if the solid linkage part of the trio kit is hard to fit, is it under the car where the linkages connect to the gearbox? The rest looks straight fwd but can't find the fitting instructions for this bit.

If I remember correctly its about a three hour job for install but to change the setting took 25 mins

It's the best shifter for an Audi you can get. It just needs setting up correctly or it won't feel right. Fine adjustment to your own personal liking is the key to it.

Ever used one in a b7 noodles? It's got two settings that's it, it's hard to 'fine tune' with two settings IMO

If you watch the JHM install video and the video update for people that were having selection problems there seems to be a lot of fine adjustments possible (aside from the 2 speed settings) even with the OEM shifter, may explain why some people have notchy gearboxes and some don't short shifter or not.

Are you sure the guys that have set yours up Danny have seen these videos as I'm gonna watch then over & over before I attempt to set mine up...if I get one that is.

it was mrc who set it up mate so i'm assuming it was set up correctly. I watched them adjust it the second time if that's the case apoligies noodles

Thanks Gareth, was this just the short shifter and not the trio kit? How do find it? What did you pay in total including shipping/VAT/duty/handling charge?

it was just the shortshifter, not the trio.

Postage to Australia was around US$45 and fortunately no duty or local taxes on arrival (we have a $1000 threshold before local taxes are applied to imports).


took about 6 days and was delivered straight from JHM to my front door hassle-free.

How does it feel? Better than sex!! LOL

to be honest, I've always installed after-market short shifters as I am disapoointed with OEM stuff, they seem to be built for lavender fairies!

When I bought the car, my wife took it for a spin and the very first thing she said was that it need the shortshifter, which was purchased within 2 hours!

Its heavier and notchier than OEM, but very solid and accurate. Even though its heavier, you would easily adapt to any difference to OEM, its not a problem heavy - you wont develop bigger biceps for instance!
