Recommend me an indie - SW London/Surrey area

Post by Adam » Wed Feb 29, 2012 5:05 pm

As title says really.

My car is going in for 5th annual service, MOT and DRC check next month and I suspect some items will come up, maybe discs for example

I want to get the basic service only done by Audi, anything else by an indie. First time I have had to ask as my car only has 20k miles and has not needed any big jobs doing.

Also - should I visit the indie first? Just concerned something may come up on MOT and Audi garage won't let me drive car to indie to get sorted. Do they legally have to hold on to the car for worn items such as discs/pads/tyres? I am no mechanic and would only trust myself to check the obvious things beforehand eg tyre depth

little bit out of your way unless you can do Kent.
Brooklands, based in Swanley, excellent work. Got recommended them a while ago re Porsche works, but they do most performance cars and prep them for Brands Hatch i'm told. Barry is the chap who owns the company, work wise we've always dealt with Chris.
All the best

QST in Haywards Heath would be worth the short drive.

I have had very good experience with:

Universal VW Audi in Latimer Road, W10 (so not strictly SW London). They had a couple of RS4's in there the other day doing DRC work and servicing. Peter who owns and runs it is a top bloke.

Russell Automotive. They are in North London, but will do a free pickup and delivery. Great service from them too.

I've heard good things about Russell Automotive too (the chap the heads up the workshop is ex-Audi).
They wont be able to do your DRC however, as they don't have the expensive kit to do it.

+1 They have fitted all my Millteks and have done a superb job each and every time.

Thanks, W10 might be ok but Kent a bit much from Sw London

Don't need DRC work from indie - Audi will look at that under last month of 5 year warranty.

Any views on my other question, will Audi not release the car to get work done elsewhere if work is to fix an MOT issue?
