Does the engine turn over?
Most cars I've had previously (but don't know with the RS4) will cut out the starting mechanism if the crankspeed sensor is playing up to protect the engine.

I know it's the obvious thing, but have you checked the fuses and relays?

Do you have an engine failure lamp on the dash? (either the MIL or EPC lights)?

I'm struggling with that response... really hard to understand (and not tims ;)).
Do you have an engine light on on the instrument cluster? if so then get the codes scanned using VCDS/Vagcom or even a cheap ODB reader.
