Tyre Pressure Warning

Post by djt » Sun Dec 18, 2011 6:57 pm

Just had my tyre pressure warning light come on, so I nipped to the garage and pumped all 4 tyres up but the warning is still showing.

Any ideas???

Reset the pressures and see what happens.

BTW for those who have been saying that the MOT test will start testing TPMS systems from 1st January 2012 see page 105 of the MOT Inspection Manual here http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/M ... Manual.pdf
MOT Testing Manual wrote:The inspection of the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning lamp only applies to passenger vehicles with:

- four or more wheels, and
- not more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver’s seat, and
- first used on or after 1 January 2012
So the TPMS on a B7 RS4 will NOT be part of next years's MOT test - since they have been first used before 1 January 2012.

Also had tyre pressure warning light on when I picked my RS4 a few weeks ago, guy said it was because he'd had 20inch wheels on it while he had the originals in the Shop getting refurbed, said it would sort itself out after a while. Waited a week then tried setting the tyre pressures as per the chart on the door jam and then got red warning saying pressure too low. Tried putting pressures back up but red warning still on and won't let you go into the menu to set the pressures????

You will get into the dis menu if you do not start the engine but just turn on the ignition.

Is there a way to disable to TPMS completely? Via Vagcom maybe?
