As doug says - going back to my comment on the 211. I don't have a decent picture but found this.

The shiny crome tube is the air duct from the supercharger to the chargecooler. There is a similar pipe on the other side of the engine from the chargecooler to the intake ports.

Even on tubes that long there was a very thin film but nothing to worry about. The issue is when you combine this film with normal engine soot from the inperfect combustion then you start to end up with troublesome deposits that snowball.

Its funny, as when you was putting 211 did not realise you meant Lotus 2-eleven. Was looking at one as an alternative track day car. They look bloody good on the track.

He he - definately not a rover ;)
Had 5 elise based cars and whilst not the most charismatic (S2 Sport 190 was that one) the 211 is one of the most clinically fast track day cars I've ever driven. Cornering speed and control is stunning but the braking is simply phenominal. Not found anything else road legal that can outbrake it and I've made one passeneger physically sick (luckily when they got out) which they blamed on the brakes. Top speed is (like most elise cars) the limiting factor as you start to lose oomph at 120 so tracks like silverstone are dull, but places like brands and oulton are a joy. On the road it's cold, difficult to control and you beomce obsessed with the weather but get it in the right place it's mind blowing. Tried the caterham C260 and Atom3 and whilst the caterham is a close one I didn't like the dymanics of front engined (bit too slidy tail happy) and as for the Atom... Jesus... talk about a flawed project. It just doesn't have (in my view) enough traction or wheelbase to handle properly and even in a very careful straight line you'll fishtail and in the corners it lurches from understeer to mad oversteer and back again. There's a great drivers republic vid that compares the 3 and even though the 211 is heavier and less poweful than the other its' faster on track as it works as an overall package.

Rumours of a 211 mk2 based on the new Exige S v6...
Apologies for thread drift :)

Lovely bit of kit that. There was a guy on here, Gavin, who got a 211 a few years ago.

Is that Gavin from Cullercoats / North Shields with a Nogaro B5 RS4 '666 ***'? I used to see him in his 2Eleven and then he had a tuned E39 M5 IIRC but not seen his plate on a car recently.

He he - can't be seloc... people are too nice to each other over here ;-)
Apart from the weather the open cockpit really adds to the fun. But granted, a well sorted s1 would be next on my list. Nearly put a honda in the 190 but couldn't do it as that car had so much charm and charisma. Exige S V6 next :)
