trolley jack ?

if i decide to keep my car (which is very likely), wot do other members
do regarding trolley jack and spare wheel, ie only use on long trips, space saver wheel
light weight jack, which make/model.

My trolley jack won't fit underneath . I boght a standard A4 jack and modified the plastic in the spare wheel wheel with a Stanley knife so it fits in there.

And I have an Audi space saver 18" wheel in a tyre bag which I carry at all times.

The wheel is genuine Audi, and the tyre is a Vredestein space saver.

Halfords do a 2 ton trolley jack, which is slimline.
Easily fits underneath the RS. Has it's own toughened-plastic case.
Bit chunky to lug around all the time though (as any trolley jack, would be).

Also... Costco sometimes do a 3 ton jobbie, which looks to have a lot of aluminium components.... so may be worth checking.

(Daves idea of a standard A4 jack is probably better though... if you're just using it for journeys)

You can get a bottle jack from Halfords for less than £10 which is what I have for longer journeys and it does the job. IIRC it is good enough for 1.5 tonnes which is more then enough for one corner and fits in one of the two compartments next to the battery.

To be fair I would not bother with a trolley jack, as PG says, a bottle jack will be just fine. If you feel you must need a trolley jack then the Halfords one is good enough, If your car is lowered more than 20mm then forget it as it wont fit. I have the Halfords one, I will sell it to you half the price of the one for sale.

I upgraded to a Sealey aluminium low profile track for my track days. money well spent.

my car has the sports sus plus lowered 20mm so it looks if
i might have to go the same route and get a sealey low profile.
dont realy fancy a bottle jack! also some spacesaver wheels on flea bay
but for an a3, will this fit the rs4?

mate, just go to the breakers and get a std audi/vw scissor jack,thats all you need if it just to carry for a spare change,they fit in the plastic tray under the boot also
i just robbed the one that came with my tts when i traded it,(or you could just look in the boot if you get a loan car )

as for a spare i just carry a full size alloy and bolts that i have had for years in the 2x tt's i had,takes a bit of space but i'm to tight to buy a spacesaver,think i paid about £100 for a new alloy with a new tyre,both are cheapys but its just a get you home and it looks better than a spacesaver plus no rush to get your puncture fixed so you can shop around for a good price for a replacement tyre

I have this one which lifts the car OK & fits under the plastic blocks fine (I also use a bit of wood to protect the blocks) am on non-SS suspension & is only 30.
