Afternoon all, looking for a bit of help, i now have a leak coming from the front oil cooler caused by corroded connections.
Looking for a bit of help from someone who knows the script with changing out these two hoses, does it involve removing the oil from the engine in order to carry out the work?
Oil cooler leaking connection
Re: Oil cooler leaking connection
its as low as the sump so i would have thought so, wont hurt to change it anyway, only in the wallet dept
Re: Oil cooler leaking connection
Be very careful how you remove the cooler pipes from the cooler .. Or you will end up fitting a new cooler as well ..

Re: Oil cooler leaking connection
Yup ive done this and Grizz is right,i had to hacksaw through the nut carefully until you can see the top of the threads, then try and open the nut a little and let some plus gas or wd4o soak into the threads before trying to remove it.You will not end up with your engines oil content over the floor just residual left in the pipes, the quality of metal the pipes are made from is shocking, mine had gone on the last bend before the coupling to the oil cooler.
Re: Oil cooler leaking connection
Thanks guys.
All sorted now, connections were that badly corroded that ended up having to buy a new cooler, alloy cooler with steel hose fittings, no good. not a happy chappy.
x2 hoses from Audi cost me £222, didn't get the cooler from Audi as they wanted over 600 bones, sourced elsewhere.
Gunna wrap everything in denso tape for good measure! expect the cooler of course.
