Who cares though if it's fixed - People try to read too much into top gear which for better or worse is now a entertainment show that happens to be about car (and other cool) stuff.

The climbers were undoubtably amazing though - fix or now fix to climb at that rate for 2 hours is incredible.
At least Clarkson was very complimentary -The comments about "I suspect I might be sitting 3 feet from the best v8 ever" and "the m3 will need to come with a free moon to be as good" always make me chuckle.

Watched it this morning on repeat. Was a very good show.

A 6 hour climb done in 2 hours, what you reckon?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Maybe, but you wouldn't get me anywhere near there.

I think the climbers probably had to slow down to let the RS4 catch up....LOL

I don't understand why no official timed lap was ever recorded for the RS4? If anything smells like a fix it's that

Pity there was never a timed lap on telly.

I thought one was done by the Stig but never filmed/broadcast.
Wasn't it on the official list somewhere? IIRC.

The time on their track is 1:25.6 for the saloon which is 0.3 of a second behind the M3 Coupe and a couple of seconds (IIRC) quicker than the C63 saloon. So for all the pontificating about the RS4 being worst of the three a 'professional' racing driver could only get an M3 to go 0.3 second quicker than the RS4.

My understanding is that the RS4 time was 'derived' from Clarkson saying it was a second (or something) faster than a Porsche and that's why it's not on the official list: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/powerlaps.shtml
