Black Optic Window Trim - Chassis Number required!

Post by pekingprawn » Fri Jul 29, 2011 11:13 am

Hi Guys

Audi are replacing my Aluminium look trim and I've asked them to replace it with the Black Optic trim.

I have a funny feeling they are going to try and tell me they cant get hold of the Black Optic trim and replace like for like.

However, i'm reasonably confident if I can source the Black Optic trim myself, they'll install it while they've got the Alu stuff out.

Can anyone suggest where I can get it from? I'm new to Audi so I'm unsure.

Thanks!

Scott

Hi Scott,
Why do you think they won't do black?

If all else fails you can get it wrapped for around £200.00??

Just a feeling they will claim that replacements have to be like for like!

Maybe, you can always ask to pay the difference, may even get it one good will. No harm in asking

They've agreed to replace the trim under distance selling laws. They didn't tell me, or highlight the fact the trim was discoloured before the sale, or after. The car turned up and the trim was a mess so I kindly suggested they'll be replacing it or I'm getting my money back. Same goes for a variety of scratches etc, which they've agreed to put right at no cost to me.

I've asked them for the black optics to be installed as good will since they clearly tried to fleece me - some scratches were filled with touch up pen! No getting around that one so they're prepared to do what it takes to make me happy, but we'll see if promises are fulfilled!

Be a good result if they do everything you have asked for.

As expected, Huddersfield Audi are telling me they cant replace the Alu trim with Black optic trim as it is no longer available to them...

They would like to put Alu trim back in there, but if I can source any Black Optic trim then I should do it while the trim is out.

Is this horseshit or can this stuff be had from somewhere?

Several dealers are no longer swapping alu trim to black trim - because to do the whole swap takes a lot of time.

See above, they are already replacing the Alu trim. The trim is going to be out and instead of replacing like for like I wanted them to put Black Optic trim in.

Does anyone have a part number I can throw at them?

...hmm, typical Audi response... but sounds like sh1te to me...

Are they saying that someone with a damaged piece of black trim will need to replace the whole set with brushed Ally . . ?!?!? :bash:
