Avants holding up well
Re: Avants holding up well
This thread has kinda gone in the direction that proves my point, nice well specced low mileage avants are few and far between and starting to open up a gap to saloons, higher miles crap spec and colour will swipe all its desireability and several ££k,back to my post do you think it would be a realistic point to market mine if i had to? I think so looking at the competion and knowing its unlikely there all issue or expense free as they stand, but on the other hand i cant offer finance etc, warranty for me doesnt come into it as they wont pay for the majority of what goes wrong with them anyway, rads drc etc etc forgot a few things on mine such as fridge/coolbox, ipod connection and probably more but.... If that car previously mentioned was traded for 26500 needed £3k spending to prep then surely one with no major expenditure due to resell would attract nearer what im thinking for mine? Cap Black book prices are the trades favoured buying tool as the values are lower than glasses and on a desireable model you would be a fool to fall for black book money knowing how desireable these motors are at the minute
Re: Avants holding up well
You could always advertise it on pistonheads and gauge reaction. I think the difference between a well specced car and a bogo, would be the difference between trying to flog it for ages, or it being snapped up quick.
Re: Avants holding up well
2006 56 plate well specced avant with low miles?? 26K, possibly at a push 27K to the right buyer? Thats private prices. If its a 2007 56 plate, 600-700 quid more.
Re: Avants holding up well
Avants do seem to hold a big price advantage - what was the difference in new costs?
Re: Avants holding up well
Saloon £50,105
Avant £51,255
Cab £59,075
Avant £51,255

But remember that the standard spec of the cabrio was higher (e.g. included sat nav plus other things that were options on the saloon and Avant), so comparing basic list prices isn't comparing apples with apples.PaulRS4 wrote:Saloon £50,105

Re: Avants holding up well
Lengster - I reckon you'd get a little more than mentioned above, so long as its it tip-top condition.
Has it got Carbon trim? Sports suspension? Sunroof? What kind of power/torque figures?
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Avants holding up well
Not planning on selling but its good to know I have invested in the right things this time, after I lost about 10k on the EvoX Pile of
went back to a Mint low mileage UK 6 Ralliart and sold it for a profit after about 6 months and could have sold it 10 times over, some guy even wanted it shipped to Switzerland so he had a matching pair with his Mak.... there will always be demand for quality and the right car

Re: Avants holding up well
I've just re-joined the B7 avant owners, this is my 2nd B7 Avant and my 4th RS4, (I have alternated between B5's and B7's over the last few years). I had been on the look out for a B7 for a few months and Marcus at Fontain has always looked after me very well and was keeping an eye out for something suitable to replace my 133K B5.
He found the following at the beginning of January, but it took until 2 weeks ago to arrive and be ready:
Sprint Blue 06 56, Buckets, Tech Pack, DLR, Auti Dim dip, 56K and 2 owners, with major service and an upgrade to the factory bluetooth phone option (and bluetooth streaming kit) £26,850
Very happy, with strong trade in on my B5 and superbly prepared and competatively priced B7 avant. Had a small fuelling niggle, but Fontain rushed it back in and sorted it with a full explanation of the findings. As we all know, it's not the service when things are going well that count, it's after they've made the sale that the level of service counts...
Now the next questions to you all are probably common ones. How do I make the B7 as quick as my old B5? or at least close! Who are MRC, since looking at the threads they do seem to 'Rock'! and what would I have to spend to produce around the 460BHP mark?

Oh and Sunroof and Sports Suspension!
I did look at some cars privately, but like the B5 market it is getting more and more tricky to sort the few good cars from the trash, and the risk of buying trash privately at the +25K mark is just too great for most.

its a OE55 car
but a 57k sprint blue 06 plate has just appeared at £24,995 ... so valid point
Re: Avants holding up well
There is a couple of 2006 80+k Avants on Autotrader for £23,995 but the have been there for a whils. The Mugello Avant doesn't have a mileage on the ad but I suspect it is around the same as the Sprint Blue one (83K) but the Mugello one has a standard MFSW rather then the flat bottomed one and both don't have a hue amount o additonal spec on them if the ads are to be believed.

Re: Avants holding up well
When I was looking for an Avant this time last year just as spring had sprung they where being snapped up just as quickly as this year.
so I pretty much gave up and booked a test drive of a S4 Avant (B8), whilst I was on the test drive a guy came in to do the deal on his RS4Avant against an (in stock) S5cab.
so I grabbed the chance of a late (nov'07) low mileage (13k), good spec and my fav colour Misano.... so I placed a deposi, probably paid slightly over the odds (£36.5k) but at least I've seem to got a good clean example that has only needed fuel since (just about use the first of the two free services)
whilst it was waiting to get the private plate replaced with a new reg, the dealer told me he could have sold it ten times over....so yes they are in demand
so patience & a bit of luck... if you have made up your mind, let the local dealers know you are looking.
Interestingly I took some fresh pictures at the weekend and my neighbour called over and said oh suppose you are selling it then?
Nope I said...can't imagine what I would i replace it with?
