I've had a quick look but can't see the coil pack SN's. Any idea how to locate them?

Pull the connector off and it reveals the part number and other details.

There's a statement in the tech document that says 'Ignition coils with no visable part number should not be replaced as part of this campaign, since we have no information regarding their quality status'

That means non-original items, all original items will have a visible pn.
Visible doesn't mean visible in situ.

Took mine to audi peterborough today. All of the coil packs changed and washed inside and out in 45 mins for free. Feels no different at all and start up still has a slight missfire when cold

got mine back today,

8 new coils fitted, and AC unit re gassed as their was a slight smell of burning. Told them there was a slight knocking sound from front, to ensure they checked the shocks. DRC checked and no fault found so i am pleased.

Cant tell the difference on start up or when cold - but their done so cant be upset, but did find out I had the SS+ suspension though

thanks RS246 for pointing out the recall.

Have to dispute that - I owned 2 B6 S4s and never once had a coil pack fail.

I remember posting here sometime last year that I have done about 1,000,000 cylinder miles in Audis without ever having a coil pack failure.

Yes, there's enough of a problem for Audi to swap out coil packs, but let's not get this out of proportion (like we did carbon build-up).

well I'll see your 2 B6 S4's and raise you

I had 3 S4's and all 3 fell foul of coil packs .... also my missus A2 FSI had coil pack nightmares, and ask AliGod how many coil packs he goes through a day

and VW Group have a history with dodgy coils on the 1.8T when they had a similar "recall" few years back

I think I'll combine mine with booking it for DRC work.
I just find going to Audi like a visit to the dentist (only cheaper)
