Lowering question

Post by Norre » Wed Mar 02, 2011 11:57 am

Hi! My 07 RS4 has SS+, but i want to lower it a little bit more. Is this possible with just H&R springs or do i have to buy a coil kit? I have searched but not found anything helpfull. The H&R springs lower 20-25mm. I have read somewhere that the SS+ is about 10mm lower, so will H&R lower 10-15mm then?

Thanks!

Check out the pics on th 'Sunday Meet At Beaconsfield' as the Mugello saloon as H&R springs. Looked really nice, particularly the front.

Will the lowering springs put more strain on DRC tho?

good question, I suppose it might as it holds the shocks in a continually higher state of compression, it might be equivalent to being at max pressure all the time.

nope, mine was original suspension setup, not SS or SS+

I understood the difference in SS and SS+ to be the springs themselves and the DRC setup to be the same for each?

I may be wrong, i'm sure can clarify this...

The original suspension for the RS4 is SS.

SS+ was the only suspension option.

very interested int his upgrade myself. money too tight currently to go for coilovers.

is the ride appreciably firmer on the springs? are the h&r springs expensive to have installed? approx how much do they retail at?

its been highly recommended to me to use STaSIS coilovers. I cant afford the coilovers at this stage, so I contacted STaSIS and they supply lowering springs only - USD395 plus freight. might be a good alternative to H&R, albeit offering the same lowering height

I can advise on this as I've been researching and enquiring about it for a while. I started a thread on " achieving the stance" or something, part 1 or 2. It covers widening and lowering. I'm gonna update it very soon regards lowering with springs only.
