Should I get the remap taken off?

Post by Guernsey70 » Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:25 pm

I'm wondering whether I should have the remap taken off my car to help it drive smoother?? Question - does the remap affect both normal drving and sport mode? Oh and I've got 200 cell downpipes, so would a standard map work with these?

Cheer for the input.

If you upgrade to SW0090 to help it drive smoother when cold it WILL wipe your map. If you know who mapped it ask them if they could re-flash it again for you.

Thanks Shagga. What does a re-flash do and could MRC do this, even though they didn't do the original map?

Yeah they will map it for you after a healthcheck no problem.

Are you not in Guernsey then?

Sorry for jumping in, but if you upload SW0090 (or any Audi SW) it will make your car run like a dog with the Milltek cats. It will rob be throwing up faults as there will be no pre-cats.

As Shagga says, take it back and get a new remap added, you can get SW0090 added and then a new remap put on top. I would try going to one of the reccomended tuning companies promoted on here.

Shagga - no not in Guernsey, but it's where I was born - cheers

Sonny - could MRC do the SW0090 upgrade and new remap on top or would I have to go to Audi for the former first?

No, its a dealer job for the SW0090 (afaik). MRC will then upload there Remap onto the Audi SW.

Where are you based?

I'm in London, so will ask Wimbledon Audi what the score is when I ask them about the coil pack recall.

If a software upgrade wipes out a mrc map, if u go back to mrc to remap it again (reflash), is it a much lower charge compared to the normal 5-600 quid for mapping?

You will have to speak to MRC/Doug Kay.
