Not Yet, just cant find what it is.

I have an audio recording from my phone, if anyone knows how to load one to the web for others to hear?

'fraid not fellas. I was just being curious.

The only thing I can suggest comes from an Audi Master Tech who said (about two weeks ago) "to come see him when the drivers door handle becomes loose or starts to rattle".... apparently it's very common.
I looked at him all confused. But your thread is making me wonder !?

Maybe worth checking out.

Naaah its definitely not the door handle, otherwise you'd hear it constantly when cruising in low revs on bumpy roads. I only hear it when accelerating hard around the middle of rev range. Its like a vibration that sits directly behind the dash to the right of the wheel.

Lugars4... the issue I had seems to have gone away on my car. This is going to sound quite lame given the mechanical issues that have probably been going through your head but I reckon it was simply the air vent to the right of the wheel that has been the problem all along.

I had previously played around with this and checked for something that may have fallen inside/blocked. Anyway, yesterday i was stuck in traffic and messed about with it again.. it seems that in certain positions (generally open vent and facing fully to the window) there is more of a vibration. I found having the vent closed helped a lot but also facing straight forward. It seems like there is a little groove that the vent sits in when centrally positioned that stops the vibration...

I had a 200 mile drive home last night vibration free so Im hoping thats it gone!! Given the lengths you have gone to already Id be suprised if you havent tried this but worth a shot..

That is interesting, i have played about with the vent, i will try it again later!

One thing i am sure of is that in warm weather it it much better, and i dont notice it at all some times. For me its worse at night with the colder, denser air, which changes the engine note a bit.

Thanks for the feedback!

Exactly the same with mine. Much less noticable/non existent in warmer weather.

maybe in warm weather you adjust the vent to a position where it vibrates less!

Just been out, i left the vent as it was and it was vibrating, but no where near as bad as it was when it was alot colder a few nights ago.

Then i adjusted the vent and unfortunatly made no difference at all.

I am quite sure it is in the door, the front half. Possibly the window slider which uses a wire cable to raise / lower the glass.

The rear runner cable is tight with the window closed fully, but the front cable feels looser. But hard to diagnose in the warmer weather.....

Where are you guys from? Im in Kent. Would be interesting to hear someone elses do it to see if it si the same problem.

With the door assembled it is hard to tell if its the door or right side of the dash near where they meet, but with the door card off it is clear its just inside the door.

I'm certain mines coming from inside the door to the front. Just not had time to take the card off and have a proper look.

Recording, door card off, cold weather (2 DegC).

Held the phone next to the door, sounds alot worse with the door card off, cant find anything loose in the door. (assuming it is in the door and not something close to it)....

With the door card on, it creates an illusion of sounding closer to the dash, and less "metalic".

Went out last night (9 DegC) and it does it alot less.

I have never in all my life had so much trouble sourcing a noise. Biggest problem being the speed and acceleration required to create the sound.

Lewy1000, has your noise gone for good? I though i had got rid of it last night after playing around with the dash, vent, light switch etc, it stopped suddenly. Then tonight its back again!!

Anyone had any luck or any ideas ?

lugars, how did you get the door card off? I can't work it out!

I've undone a single black screw right at the bottom of the door and removed the trim behind grap handle to remove the two silver screws. But thats as far as i've got.

Does the speaker grate come off to allow access to more screws, I've had a gentle pull but it doesn't seen to be willing!
