Rattling exhaust after removing vacuum hoses

Post by rs4nick » Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:24 pm

Decided to take the plunge and remove the vacuum hoses as per some well documented posts on here - pleased with the resulting sound in lower gears around town :D

However on cold startup during the initial minute or so of higher revs (think running SW090) the exhaust values seem to rattle - can only be heard from outside. Is this normal after the modification? Only lasts less than a minute and then stops

Thoughts?

Doesn't happen with mine. Are you sure you've sealed the apertures properly?

My guess would be either leaking air in the vaccuum pipe as drcarrera suggests or possibly the valves in the exhausts rattling - you can see them if you look down the tailpipe as are right at the front of the exhaust.

Pretty sure have sealed vacuum pipes as used grub screw to seal - nice tight fit.

drcarrera - when you say apertures are you refering to the pipes or the diaphragm - have sealed the diaphragm by reconnecting the blocked pipe to it

If just rattling, perhaps lubrication of flaps will prevent it?
