Intake manifold

Had the engine management and epc light come on. Left bank stuck at 16 degrees! Luckily I've just extended the warranty but did it late so there is a month cool off period!
The question is can it still be driven or will it cause major problems??

How did you get the information to say it was stuck at 16 degrees? Have you tried to manually move the flaps yourself?

Mine used to move at full range and then stick on return at 6 degrees but have since not had any issues and full range of movement back with some Italian tuning and believe it or not, Winnds DIP3 petrol additive.

I bought my car with an inlet manifold fault code but no warning lights on.
Like PG, as soon as I bought it I shoved some Forte Gas Treatment in the tank, always used the full rev range and it hasn't come back since.

Southampton Audi had a look last wk. Told me a new one would sort it.

As for moving the flaps not sure I'd be confident to do that! I've tried giving it a good run through rev range but no joy. For the record Southampton Audi are terrible, really poor service.

Will give that treatment a go. I'm sure it can only help!

I've only just replaced the clutch and flywheel last month! It all comes at once hey

You could try some WD40 type lube on the flap arms but you ideally need VAG COM to operate them and for starters you need to know where to look which is hard to explain!

Don't worry neckarsulm as soon as the warranty kicks in again they can replace.

Do you guys think I can still drive it?

Do you have VCDS? If so clear the codes, it will work perfectly well and the flaps do help tumble but aren't an integral part to the combustion cycle (it won't blow up!). Clearing the codes will get you back full rev range and knock out the EPC light and associated limiter.

As for Southampton Audi don't always take what they say as gospel. I have seen and heard of examples when Audi dealerships have said replace IM only to find it was the actual runner sensor that was at fault (misdiagnosed), IM perfectly fine. But then they wouldn't tell the customer that! Better still, if you don't have VCDS ask S'Ton Audi for the fault codes and report back here before taking any futher action.

The runner arms are a little hard to see but effectively two white plastic arms you can see down the front of the engine. First time mine happened Audi Roadside came out and manually moved them using a large flathead screwdriver pushing down. Using VCDS whendoing this you can see the % movement.
