New guy with lots of miles!
New guy with lots of miles!
Howdy guys,
Just found your forum, looks cool
Im Jason, live in Socal.
I have an 08 RS4, bought it new in aug 07. Its my driver, no track days (I have other cars for that !lol) But i drive it as hard as I can on the street and in the local mountains. No complaints other than the low torque.
Just thought Id throw out a little data. it just passed 100000 miles on 12/10/2010
Ive replaced the front brake pads. Ebay, Pro-stop pads $130.00 front and rear! they are 10 times better than the OEM pads. Still on the OEM rotors and rear pads. 4th set of tires, watch the alignment inner edge wear will kill them quick!
This carbon build-up deal is pure crap. We should file a class action, there is certainly enough data.
Regular filter and fluid changes
I had the DRC fixed when the car was new and the DRC recall done....twice..
One of the replacements completely failed on the freeway.
Looking to build a rear mount twin turbo deal..
some day lol
Happy motoring!

Welcome D-cel. RS4's like to be driven and with a bit of mechanical sympathy go far. Have to say though DRC is a sublime piece of engineering, granted when it works. That said the generation 3 shocks (redesigned version for the RS4) work just fine and I do not believe there have been any cases of failures.
As for carbon build up and class action, good luck. It is in the patent for FSI and as much data as there is concerning it, it's not consistent and usually smattered with other factors. And loads of aftermarket options to minimise / prevent it including s/c's, water-meth injection, nitrous, seafoam and it still comes back. So just drive it and enjoy it.
78k miles on and I'm happy to say my RS is producing as much power and torque as it did approx. 25k miles and 18 months ago and near production figures.
Anyway, not looking for a CB fight, welcome to the forum.
