Sparks from exhaust
Sparks from exhaust
OK - so this is the first chance in weeks (literally) that the weather's been good enough to open up the throttle. The car was very lumpy while warming up and it just felt like it needed a blast to clear it's throat.
So... after warming up, I took it up to 7000/7500rpm (not to the limit) and all was fine unitl I looked in the mirror and saw sparks coming out of the back. I pulled in and looked all round and under the back, but could see nothing amiss.
Got back on the road and played around a bit but couldn't get the issue to repeat. Performance was absolutely fine and not lumpy like it had been. Have driven another 20 miles since and all seems fine.
Could this be a build up of carbon in the system after driving so slowly for so long in the wintery conditions? All that warming up on the driveway probably wasn't great either, but there was no alternative at the time.
I'm hoping this is just a one off, but I guess I'll find out pretty soon if it isn't. AA membership and Recovery all in place.
Anyone else seen this before?

RE: Sparks from exhaust
Either that or its the remanence of a mouse that's made a nest in your exhaust system lol
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
RE: Sparks from exhaust
Noticed similar when watching rs4s on the dyno, these cars need caning on a regular basis
RE: Sparks from exhaust
Thanks lengster - does it clear up quickly on the dyno? It didn't last long and I figured melting aluminium would have a more noticeable (and permanent) effect.lengster1 wrote:Noticed similar when watching rs4s on the dyno, these cars need caning on a regular basis
RE: Sparks from exhaust
Yep this happened to mine on the dyno if you see you tube any RS4's on the dyno do this so nothing to worry about at lengster say the need a good thrash to clear out the cobwebs
