SD card help ?
Hi Chaps
I have just purchased a San Disk SDHC Card to transfer some itunes songs from my macbook onto. I transferred just 10 songs over and slotted it in to the SD card slot. The display just read, "reading card" for ages ?
I tried some mp3 tracks that I loaded onto the sd card and they didn't load. The itunes tracks are m4a ?
Can anyone help, I am not very familiar with this ?
Thanks
James

SDHC (ie. high capacity) DO NOT work with the RNSE unit in the RS 4
you need just a normal SD card, which can be found in a rare 4GB form

please all feel free to correct me if i am wrong, but i was under the impression that 4gb was the "total" capacity. I think you might need to have 2 x 2gb for it to work.

RE: Re: RE: SD card help ?
I'm amazed how often I have to post this information.
The pre-2010 RNS-E (which is what the RS4 is fitted with) will only work with SD cards (not SDHC cards), which are available up to 4GB maximum. It will work with 2 x 4GB SD cards.
The "fly in the ointment" is that 4GB cards are available as both SD and SDHC cards, but most (not all) are now SDHC. So when you're looking for a 4GB SD card you have to be very careful, especially as some SDHC cards are only marked SD.
The pre-2010 RNS-E is limited to 512 files per SD card, where file includes folders, MP3 files and M3U playlists. So unless you use 320kbps rip rate you'll probably reach that limit before you reach the capacity of a 4GB SD card.

I agree, I have suggested before that this should be a sticky.PetrolDave wrote:I'm amazed how often I have to post this information.
