new owner - removing phone holder!!

Post by crown62 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:28 pm

Hi Just got my 2007 RS4 Avant with 15,000 miles. Delighted!! my past few cars included the new Focus RS and M3 CSL.

The RS4 is Far more practical, but contains the nutty elements of the other two!!

Couple of things I want to sort out.
1. That awful phone holder hanging out of the dash. Have removed it and pushed the two wires into one of the holes.
I would imagine many others have done this, but can you tell me the part number and cost of the dash trim needed. What do you do with the wires, just tape them up ans hide them away , as I see they have no further use? I have connected my iphone with bluetooth , thats all I need. (are there any guides to replacing the dash trim?)
2. The metal gear shift map on top of the gear stick has a few scratches from the 1st owner who must have worn a ring. Can you buy just the badge or is it a whole new gear stick? and what might that cost?

Again delighted with the car just want to sort these few things, and then look for a good detailing man in Essex. :o

Ok my 1st post loads of views but no answers :?

Any way ordered the part , it being a huge bit of dash @£110 .

Seems extreme when you see the size of it , but I hated that phone cradle and could not look at the two holes left!!

Has anyone done a fitting guide for this dash? if so a link :D

i am in the minority - i dont mind it - got myself an iphone cradle - at least i no longer run out of battery on a long journey due to the blue tooth draining it.
