Realistic Sale Price?

I may be forced to sell my beloved RS4, I was just wondering if you could advise me a realistic price to sell it for?

I suggest you checkout PH's and pitch your price according to how quickly you want to sell it.

Do you have a warranty on the car?

I don't want to sell it at all but work is slow at the moment so I might have to. I certainly wouldn't price it for a quick sale as I would rather struggle and keep it than let it go cheap.

On somewhat of a tangent, but I've had a guy ring up about mine, and when I told him that I'd have to go pick the car up from my parents house for him to look at, he lost interest. Why would anyone do that, other than because they wanted to come back at a later date and steal it? No doubt some of you will jump on me for saying this, but he didn't sound like the type of person who could afford a £25k+ car either

Good point, you have to be very careful nowadays. Especially with a high profile car like the RS4.

I'd get a bit worried too selling it privately for the above reason. Perhaps enquire at an audi specialist seller. there is one in Bolton, oakwood motor company. Guy there would give you a good offer I'm sure. won't be as good as a private sales figure but pretty competitive and safe. looking on autotrader etc.. there are several specialists who sell performance cars inc the RS4 who may be interested too.

As a guide I just sold mine back to Audi 6 months newer and 22k miles - few scrapes and wheels needed refurb plus needed a service. Similar spec £26k. Was offered a bit more by a few spec RS4 dealers but all were miles and miles away and did not want to get there and have a negotiation over price. Local Audi even drove me 2 miles home (not in my car though)

PS be prepared to be very sad for a while!! Never kept a car so long and never felt so sad either!

The only consolation is an agreement on the next RS4!! Whenever that is ...........................

At the time on my car the trade prices were - GLASS £27840 and CAP £27550 - Aug will drop another £500 at least I am told by my trade friend. Also no one is paying the trade prices at present! Been a slow couple of months.

dan alright fella, because of the above i would try to hold onto it... but if you sell i would say 28k private at least... that is low mileage...and your pretty streetwise so you would be ok selling private if you know what i mean..good luck fella

Mmmm, now I'm not even sure I want to sell the car to be honest, but I only use it a couple of times a month, so if someone comes along with the cash then it might go bye bye. Anyway.....

So I've had another phone call tonight, and it sounded very much like the same bloke who has rung twice before, says exactly the same things, asking nothing at all about the car, just asking if I've got a post code and address so that he can come and look at the car. As soon as I say that I have to go pick the car up from my parents house he fobs me off saying he can't come to view until the weekend, and that he'll ring back - and doesn't.
When I say it sounded like the same bloke, it is the same bloke. Clearly in the age of unregistered PAYG mobiles, the number is meaningless in terms of tracing the owner if anything nasty did happen, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to if I can actually do anything other than what I'm doing now.

My gut feel is that I do smell a rat (or a pikey), so if you do ever sell an expensive car, just be careful !!!

Walk away - he may not actually be dodgy but doesn't sound serious either. I sold a bike last year & it is amazing the number of people who when pushed for a time to come round (before I would give out the address) would say - have to check with the wife first etc. This was for a 1200 bike from an monitored alarmed garage just didn't want to give address out to all & sundry. There are some serious people out there but too many "dreamers" so selling an expensive car must be even harder !
