Cheers, that was the end of a 35 lap session. I had already been on the track for 3-4 hours prior, so I was pretty hanging lol.scaghead wrote:nice video fella, like the heavy sigh at the end..
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

You can hear the understeer in all those corners. I've tracked the Cab (I know, I know, but it had to be done, and if it wasn't raining I'd do it with the roof down too, ha). Understeer was very bad. It's no track car that's for sure.
Well done anyway, to be 2-3 seconds slower than a Lotus is VERY good. My Suburu Race Car (Production Racing) is a full 12 seconds quicker than the RS4 on a 2 minute track!

Enjoyed the vid, looks like a fun track. I am a new owner and I am looking forward to my first track day in this car. In about a week's time I will be out on our local track (Mission, BC, Canada) and while it's definitely not as sophisticated as Brand's it's still a lot of fun. Rather tight and short and heavy on brakes. (will stock pads hold up?) I am coming from an 02 Subaru WRX that was quite heavily modified and I am really curious how the RS4 will compare. In that car I had the very biggest (33mm solid) rear ARB fitted with the stock front bar. Yes it would get light in the rear if you tried to brake mid corner but other than that it was great, very little understeer. I suspect that is likely the same treatment that the RS4 will need.
The first question I want to answer is will a rear bar (Hotchkis) at 235% spoil the ride? The really nice ride handling balance is one of the reasons I bought the Audi and I don't want to totally mess that up. Then again every car I've owned has ended up getting modified so I think it's only time before I crack. Help me out.
Sonny, you have the Hotchkis bars installed. Tell me (please, please, please) what kind of difference did they make? I am thinking of buying just the rear one and leaving it on the lower setting to start. (+235%). Then I thought if that's not enough I would buy the front bar and up the rear to the second setting (+305%). Now I hear you thinking about going with just the rear at +305% and stock in front. Hmm, have you done it? What' s it like?
Thanks.

2manytoys: Yep lots of under steer, I however im use to mitigating it now as I have done few track days in it (shame I have no footage at Silverstone)
Kringle: I was running the DRC with the up rated ARBs for some time, that did stiffen the suspension up alot, and was noticeable on norm driving/road conditions. I did 12 laps o the Ring with this set up, with no dramas at all, but make sure the bolts are done up tight using blue loctite. combined with the KWV3 it really stiffened the ride up, perfect. I would advise running the uprated on the rear and OEM front as this it the set up im going to trial for my next Ring visit.
Allan: Thanks.

Thanks Sonny. I think I will be ordering that rear bar next week. The real trouble I am having is that with grip levels as high as they are in this car it is hard to make it slip on the street and maintain an acceptable margin of safety. I have to say I have not been able to do it yet but a couple of times it was the ESP interfering. Now I remember to switch it off but that is a PAIN. Any way you can get it to stay off?
