Think MRC promote ITG, APS promote BMC on there home page. either or, there 2 very good filters, im actually interested in trying out a foam ITG number.

I had a K+N in the GruppeM, worked fine.

I wouldn't bother if just a panel filter. I mean if when they serviced my mum's polo they asked "shall we put in a life time filter for the same cost as the VW one ?" I am sure she would say yes & forget about it - induction kit/re-map I would class as a mod. I also think would back down anyway as did the extra 1 bhp really contribute to the accident.

just fitted my bmc filter...is it me or does it make a slightly louder v8 rumble?? on a side issue while i had the air box apart i checked the air flap that operates to 90 degrees, and found the operation by hand quite stiff and presume it probably was not operating properly. re greased the centre arm section and worked it loose..[had only done this a few months ago] when i took the car out it seemed more responsive in the lower rev range...or am i suffering from that dreaded illness the placebo effect

No mate, I reckon you felt the difference, when I fitted my BMC you could hear the difference. Regarding the flap, I do this on a regular basis, however make sure its only a small amount of lubrication you use as it can have the opposite effect by attract dirt and dust, making it clog up after a period of time.

Did you buy it from ECP?

What do you lube it with? WD-40; Silicone grease?

don't use grease, it will attract dirt and get gritty/bind
clean it good with WD40, then use a small amount of something that dries into a film, Wurtz makes good stuff, but any thing 'dry' should do...

WD40 is not a lubricant - clue is in the name "Water Dispersant Forumla number 40".
In fact it is the opposite and makes quite a good degreaser or to breakdown oil.
Bike chain lubricant is good but no idea if suitable for inside engines.

you learn something new everyday...but the de-greaser wd40 defo did loosen it for me..i am surprised no-one has taken them to court as they claim on the tin it lubricates all sorts of things :?
