Fault code help

Post by Mgbruce » Sat May 22, 2010 6:08 pm

Hi Guys,

i have been trying to figure out what the following codes mean, can anyone help?

001169 - Secondary Air Injection System: Bank 1: Insufficent Flow
P0491 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermitted

006435 - Please Check DTC Memory of ECU Number 2
P1923 - 008 - Implausible Signal

005137 - Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2; Insufficient Flow
P1411 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

I have cleared the system before but the problem is i have flat spots which come and go, does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Martin

I'm on my phone so can't check the wiki, but from memory this sounds like the message if you do the exhaust mod and don't fully seal the vacum pipe. Have you done your flaps?!

I have done the mod. this was the first thing i checked at the rear, i have heard that the pipes can become damaged @ the bulk head, still to be checked.

the car has a system (pump and valves) that injects air into the exh manifold under certain conditions
sounds like the pump, unlikely both valves would fail (unless you have low vacuum and they just aren't operating?)

pg 31 of the RS4 V8 study guide has good info

I knew I recognised it - here's my post from years ago

1 Fault Found:
005137 - Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2: Insufficient Flow
P1411 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

As you can see, Sebastian came straight back with the de-flapped answer -

P0491 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermitted

When i pick the car up nextweek i will ask for you

Martin, got car back yesterday, and the work carried out, they found the heating probes faulty in the exhaust system, N/S and O/S exhaust pipes, they replaced them
Part no: A1K0 998 262 AA LAMBDA PR / A079 906 262 B OXYGEN SEN
They have also updated the SW and then reset the fault codes, they have also told me to bring the car in next week so they can plug it in again to check if any of the fault codes appear again.
Hope this helps you
