Rs4 Downpipes

About a month ago I got my Tubi exhaust installed. Had (and still having) fun but it seems quiet now that I've got used to it. Thinking about buying a set of downpipes for it. Mainly interested in sound gains. Has anyone here tried that? Any problems I might encounter? (With ecu perhaps?) Does it require a remap with downpipes?

It's everything after the downpipes that affects volume. Replace the current cat-back or remove components, such as the center boxes !!!

If you want loud, loud, then do away with everything after the cats and have straight through pipes - now that will be ear splitting and fail the MOT

I wouldn't change the center pipe though. Afraid it might be too loud or start to drone or whatever.

Does your Tubi come with resonators? Personally for more volume I would just remove those and instal and x or h pipe, removing or replacing cats really needs a remap to compenaste for the loss in back pressure in the system and take advantage of the freer flowing exhaust which a standard map could only partially do.

If your Tubi is valved then you can use this function to eliminate drone around town if it happens, depends on the resonance frequency of the Tubi and pipe diameter.

Your Tubi seems quiet!? I've never found that and it never drones. There is a Tubi centre pipe I believe available too.

Just fitted my tubi and it is not quiet did think that they sent me the loud one!!! Getting a lot of flak from the wife about the noise and also I get a little drone if I pull a high gear at 25-30. Motorway speed hardly any noise above normal.

I did have a total straight through system and it was insane!!

if you dump the cats altogether you will see at least 10 or 14bhp gain but you will need a custom remap in order to get the benefit. if you just fit them you will lose power not gain it. You will gain volume but the car will have a rasp to it which you may or may not like.

Thanks for the replies, guys! My Tubi is just a catback. And no it is not quiet but it's quieter than I thought it would be. Concerning the Tubi centre pipe - they found out that it caused resonance and vibration on the back seats and stopped all production of it.
I might try getting myself an aftermarket resonator and see if it helps. Hopefully it'll be a bit louder and still won't drone. What do you think?

I currently have a full decat, straight centre section and std rear boxes. with just the decat and std cat back i found it still too quiet (but not raspy at all). So...i removed the centre resonator and it is now raspy.

To give me the volume and sound quality I am seeking I am looking at either a resonated + valved Milltek or Capristo system. Capristo ONLY if they can do me a deal because it is prohibitively expensive.

Tubi is not of interest to me as it is non-valved, and only comprises the rear silencers (i know that both the valves and centre section can be provided), but then we are in Capristo territory, and if I am spending that kind of money i prefer the Capristo tailpipe design.

No, I definitely meant resonated. The decat I have gives added volume, but with unpleasant raspiness when combined with my existing non-resonated centre section.

I am looking for a centre resonator to eliminate the rasp.

When you say "Resonated + valved Milltek sounds no louder or more aggressive than stock" is that when the valves are open or closed? Or in both circumstances, the system is similar to stock?

It's very very quiet despite the valves position. I used to have it. Bought Tubi a week later.
What I suggest is a decat with resonators + Tubi catback. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. But that will probably require a ecu remap as most of the people here told me.
As for me, I'm just looking at a Supersprint resonated centre section to take place of the stock resonator. Hope it'll work.

When I remove my std centre resonator i inspected that, and found it was of "straight through" design, so you may not realise any sound gains by changing to a supersprint resonated section.

In your situation, I wouldn't bother with the supersprint, or any other centre resonators, just stick with the std centre section.

Don't know, maybe you're right. But judging by the pics the supersprint centre section looks at least two times smaller than the stock one. That's gotta have an effect of some sort?
