Fuel costs to the Alps

Post by Jodes » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:20 pm

Anyone have any idea what the fuel cost would be from London to Alps... Courcheval to be specific, but I'm only after a rough idea so if anyone has an approx cost it would be very helpful!

Thanks

700 miles, 4 miles per litre, £1.20 per litre, total £210 or so?

Fuel cost

Which element of the equation would you change? If anything, it may cost more coz fuel on the French Autoroutes is probably more expensive than £1.20 per litre. Cruising an RS4 at 80 mph plus the blasts in the mountains, I'd be happy with 18 mpg. And Google maps says it's definitely 700 miles from London.

I drove from Calais to the Ring on 6/8 of a tank, I was however traviliing at speeds of 60/70mph due to another vehicle we was with had a trailer. so totally depends on your driving style.

I do the trip to 1650 at least 2-3 times a year, but normally in the A3.

900 miles each way from South Wales.

I budget 4 tanks for the A3 and in the RS4 its pointless budgeting because once you see an open French autoroute or German autobahn, you aren't going to be doing 80 despite your best intentions.

There is a Tesco's with 99RON just outside Folkestone which I always fill up at, and then fill up in Moutiers before you go up the mountain or get back on the Autoroute as its much cheaper.

If you can get away with one refuel on the autoroute enroute in the RS4, I salute you.

;-)

We're off again next week...

Only 72 days before the Euro Trip! Minimum of 1800 miles, plus The Ring, plus numerous goes on the Stelvio, equals mucha gasolina! No chance of 22mpg coz 'Captain Slow' I'm not. Perhaps Audi will let us fill up at their factory pump????
