xenon light setup

Post by rsubc » Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:15 am

Hi

Myself and some mates are planning a trip to germany and I, need to convert my lights for driving over there.

Called Audi today to find out what the deal is and they say ''car (2007 RS4 adaptive xenons)requires vistit to shop for this to be done'.

Not really practical as we plan a night drive down to Dover.

Can anyone suggest alternative solution.

Thanks

Richard

Adaptive lights

Stop at the pub before it gets dark???

We're off in a few weeks on the 'European tour' but no one has mentioned changing the lighting set-up. Have we missed something?

Just buy the light correctors from Halfords, job done
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I'm hoping at that stage to have VAG-COM to be able to do the change without shelling out £25-50 for a dealer to do it. Plus most of our driving will be in daylight and hopefully in the glorious sunshine (cursed it now I know!) so should be no issues.

on the RS 6 there was a switch on the unit

I could never work it out and so drove to Munich and back without any adjustment. most driving was in the day, but on the way back we must of done 5 hours in the dark...no issues

just make sure your overtaking everthing in sight so your cant dazzle them !

Its a 5 min job with VAGCOM.

Previous threads will reveal the Xenon-Range controller settings that need to be changed. I can't remember offhand...

I always travel on the continent with VAGCOM and a laptop.

Don't whatever you do pay for it...thats daft!

Seems to be simple enough - but don't shout at me if we bring up a load of other faults! I will definitely have the cable but may struggle with the 'family' laptop. The software is free from RossTech so if anyone has a spare laptop to bring along.....

hey,

Thanks for the input guys.

On our S4 there is the ability to switch them over in the MMI car setting menu, so guessed it might be possible with vag-com.

I will look into a purchase of vag-com me thinks, seems like a handy bit of kit.

Cheers

Richard

The dealer is talking out of somewhere that the sun doesn't shine again.

With adaptive bi-xenons you can put the headlights into "Tourist mode" in a few seconds - literally) using VAG-COM. I do it myself while we're on the train in the Channel tunnel.
